Sam "Momo" Giancana. Phyllis McGuire of the McGuire Sisters. and the straight man of the Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In duo. On the "no official confirmation" front, slips of info on these matters can be found in the Wikipedia sites of Giancana and Rowen. An effort to tell this story with some accuracy can be found in the TV Movie Sugartime, which make use of the title of the McGuire Sisters' biggest hit. Emgee's thread

The singer mentioned in this narrative -- Her name was used in naming of the act that she sang with. She was summoned at least once before assembled Senators, and she told them she knew nothing.

Thanks, Miles. Trying one. Do you know me? Born in the 1920s, grew up in time for WWII service in the Army Air Force. Credited with shooting down two Japanese fighters. Short of an Ace, but still -- two down. Got shot down myself, recovered from injuries, was discharged. // Went into show business via standup comedy. Joined up with a comedy partner; we did well on the nightclub circuit, wound up doing a lot of work in Las Vegas. // Married, divorced, remarried. My partner and I made two attempts at making movies; did not work out well. // Had an affair with a highly popular singer. // Events take off into some "can not be officially confirmed" territory here. My lady friend had another admirer who had a uh, had a Family. This figure was resentful of my presence in her life, and supposedly my life was threatened. // This person was approached by Federal authorities who asked his help in dealing with some matters in Castro's Cuba. Supposedly he asked them to bug the singer's dressing room to get information about her relationship with me. // My partner and I got into series television with a comedy-variety show that had a good and popular five-year run. The alleged Organized Crime figure had various conflicts within his Family, and with the Feds, and with his contacts in Cuba. At one time he was in a sort of exile in Mexico. At another he was in Federal custody for refusing to give testimony before a Senate committee. When he was out and moving around freely, he was often in the company of the singer. When he was abroad or in custody, she was often with me. He died in his apartment while standing at his stove and cooking, supposedly at the hands of someone he trusted. Our TV run ended, I worked on some other projects, then went into a comfortable retirement, in the US and abroad. I was a Type II diabetic, and I made some Public Service announcements about the disease. My death came about due to complications from the condition. Who am I. Who are these other people?

Take it, Miles. I focused on that question only because it reminded me of a pattern I had notice some decades ago. The WWII years produced some film-series tangents that generated anti-Axis plots. Tarzan, Sherlock Holmes, the Dead End Kids, the Bowery Boys and other such staple potboilers got into the anti-Nazi pattern at some point. I had not been aware of the Western slant. I believe that German Shepherd named "Rusty" also annoyed the Fuhrer a couple of times. Miles' thread, to use or open.

Uh...Is there a one-armed martial arts expert hanging around this plot somewhere?

Quiz: What movie is this line from?

Wazzup? Was the posted challenge answered? Does the thread change hands? -
The only problem here is too many definite articles. Simply Trouble In Mind will serve for the title. And you know, it never crossed my mind to track down Divine's real name, that persona was so well established. Completely covered. Your thread.

Okay, someone else will have to track down the rest of it. I hope I helped a little.

...Uh, uh-huh...Anything about the actor? The film?

The "despicable" quote: The speaker is a man who mostly cross-dresses and plays female roles. But in the production at hand, he is a male character, constantly in a tuxedo.

I don't call it a win on my part. Either go again, or open the thread.

There's a serial called King of the Texas Rangers, (1941). It ran an anti-Nazi plot, but I found nothing fitting the rest of your description. Didn't seem to involve Melburn Stone, either. Is this anywhere near what you refer to?

Brand Name Horror. I,E, one of those cases where -- quite often -- the name of the story's source will be included in the title.

Hadn't seen it in years, but I remembered that place name. Divine in a role as a dude. Twink's thread. -
Correct. Mr. Shepard is the speaker. His "his face is the story" comment refers to Harry Dean Stanton. Emgee's thread.

This dramatist has, on a few occasions, acted in stage and film pieces that he wrote himself. On the other hand he makes light of "actors who go around writing parts for themselves." Edited by: flashback42 on Oct 29, 2013 12:42 AM

361 Mr. Price always lost the draw, and he always wound up doing something that made him look ridiculous in public. He never caught on that Mr. Lorre used his own marked cards for this game.
