...3 nominations, no win; secretly treated for cancer...
That could apply to Nora Ephron, whose nominations were related to scriptwriting.

patsydahling;
There's too much about Sr. Fernandez to discuss it here. I have sent you some info by the PM (Personal Message) system. Top right of the white space on these pages, the logo of an envelope: When there is a number instead of a "0" in the parentheses, click onto the number, and it will take you to where you can read your message. Also, the "MOVIE MORLOCKS" column, (top of the page, third from the right) has some info on the subject, if you can learn how to track it down. Good luck. It's interesting.

Correct. With fairly recent releases of both Magnificent 7 and The Great Escape, Bronson was gaining popularity with European audiences. Agents for the two Ratpackers took care of their image interests abroad.
Oh.-- Dean Martin gave that opening narration.

Opening: Dark screen. A lighted circle, showing only a face. A familiar voice narrates, "Take a good look at him. He's the bad guy. And ___ _____, -- that's me -- and ___ _____, we're the good guys."
The circle expands until there is a full scene on the screen and the movie starts. That first face that was onscreen as the narration started shows the actor whom the European distributers preferred to feature in their ads. Legal action was threatened, and they desisted.

(This one has just been cleared on one of the 'challenge-question' threads, so now I'm free to use it here, as appropriate for the season):

Thanks. Re Ms. Lamarr, facts & rumors on her life put her, IMO, in a class with that Mexican tyro Emilio Fernandez. I.E, in each case there is a great biopic there, if the right people are put in charge of it. Next up:
Mid-1960s movie, Western setting. Color. Fairly popular. Caused some hassle when taken abroad. Publicity and ads in Europe showcased and emphasized a support player who was more popular there than some of the bigger names. Threats of legal action, until the ads were returned to their original form.
The movie? Some of the Names involved?

Hedy Lamarr . German? Czech? film Ecstasy (1933). Nudity, simulated ****. Husband Fritz Mandl tried to buy up all the prints.

Correct. The passage quoted has not been posted anywhere that I can find. -- I simply picked it up when I saw the movie; and may best be cited as a paraphrase. Bob Hoskins said the line to Cher's character soon after they met, and a plot tangent was established.
