  13. Actually, I felt sort of embarrassed that I did not guess it first and just confirm it by looking it up. I'm able to that sometimes on some of these questions. Next up: Two quotes, same speaker. "If you want me do a film, it's ?500.000. But if you want me to read the script first, it's ?750.000" "Actors live in a cocoon of praise. They never meet the people who don't like them."
  14. Emgee66: If there was an unauthorized takeover here, it's my fault. I thought that your post beginning with "The official verdict was..." was a "Yes" to my bringing up Natalie Wood's name. If I was wrong, please say so, and get the subject back to your question.
  15. 345 "This is an intervention, Kirk. We want to help you. Your friends are worried about your dependence on pre-gunpowder epics. Will you let yourself be helped?"
  16. George Rose is buried in an undistinguished grave near his home in the Dominican Republic. HAROLD: "How many men these days require the services of a gentleman's gentleman? How many men have your devotion to form, sir? You have managed, in your own lifetime, Mr. Graham, to keep alive traditions that were dead before you were born." ...Mr. Rose's performance as "Harold" in A New Leaf is the only one in his long resume` that I'm sure I remember. And I have gotten no satisfaction trying to get information about what went on in the local legal system concerning his death. Kid Dabb's thread.

  18. A death by homicide of a talented person in the Biz. Disturbing results. British actor, born early in the last century. Did movies and TV on both sides of the Atlantic. Quite accomplished in theater (2 Tonys). A lot of work in cartoon voices. Owned a home in England, an apartment in New York city and a vacation home in the Dominican Republic. He was gay. Had a young companion in the Dominican Republic, whom he adopted, in order to have an heir. The young man's biological father approved of the adoption. When it was learned that he was planning changes in his will, the actor was captured in his car by the prospective heir, that young man's father, and two other adult males. He was held for several hours, then he was beaten to death and put in his car. The car was driven off the road in such a way as to give the impression of an accidental death. Confessions were obtained within hours. The parties were jailed. But there was never a trial, and they were eventually released. Some aspects of Dominican Republic law were involved in this. Who?
  19. Joan Crawford, and imagine my surprise.
