  1. The innovative director started his career in standup comedy. He teamed up with a partner; they did well, and went into movie work as a team. It was after they parted ways that he became a director, usually self-directing his own work.

  11. From the earliest days of the film industry, it was the practice, at the end of a day's shooting, to immediately develop the film, spool it and view it to see if it was adequate for use. If this viewing of the "rushes" showed it would not do, it would have to be re-shot the next day. Money and time wasted. What director came up with the innovation that made it possible to eliminate the "rushes" system and move things along faster? What was the innovation?
