  1. This guest star, in most of his appearances and series roles, was strictly in type. -- An elderly man, sometimes slow and confused. Retired fireman, somebody's grandpa, etc. These mannerisms were just right for the parts he usually played. In this story he was in his eighties, playing a man in his nineties. An amusing aspect of the episode at hand is that the 91-year-old retired cop stood tall, was very self-assured, and spoke with authority. A charactistic of this series was that almost all the actors spoke up very plainly, delivered rapid-fire dialogue, and, amazingly, never overlapped their lines. It was one of the trademarks of the star-producer-director who ran the show. The guest star's delivery fit right in.
  2. (45,592) It emerged that the apartment house manager was actually a retired Chief of Detectives from another city, and was an old friend of the supervisor of the star detectives of the series. He did, indeed, have some useful comments and instincts in solving the case.

  6. The performer: Not a star, but a solid citizen member of the supporting-player pool for many years. Started acting late in life, after retiring from another profession. Typecast in "olster" roles; played continuing characters in a number of series, mostly comedies. The show: Police Procedural in a 30-min format. -- this performer appeared in it several times, in different episodes. In the story at issue here, he was the apartment-house manager in a building that was the scene of a homicide. In addition to giving his information, he kept offering opinions, some quite to the point, in a manner that made the detectives focus attention on him as a possible suspect. What show? Who?
