  17. Not Mr. Carradine; the Great Name was British, and was long active on both sides of the Atlantic. The young actress actually did not recognize him when they first met at her audition. He looked "like himself" only when in full makeup and costume for his character. This filming was done during the run of the Broadway drama in which she had a major role. It ran from Oct 1959 until July 1961. The TVM was aired in Oct 1961.
  18. (7,318) The actress further relates that she crossed paths with the Great Name some years later and introduced him to her husband. The older man was in painful shape, due to arthritis. He was unable to shake hands.

  21. idle since May 28 = open thread. Teenage actress, working on Broadway, used off-days and off-hours to play a small role in a TVM being filmed in Brooklyn. Her main scene was with one of the true Great Names of the industry. As her memoir relates: "...in some ways he had the same foibles that I did: We started the scene talking at a normal level, but every time he lowered his voice I went lower still, each of us trying to underplay the other, until the director had to come in over the loudspeaker and say, "Excuse me, the scene is going beautifully; it's just that none of us can hear what you're saying." The actress? The Great Name? The TVM (remake from a bigscreen original)?
