I still can't believe that she didn't know that.

I think we should tar and feather her for that transgression.

  2. > {quote:title=queenvme wrote:}{quote}Sorry folks, but everyone else DOES NOT adore Drew Barrymore. And the fact that she is a Barrymore, makes her no more knowledgeable about classic films, that me growing up in Michigan makes me knowledgeable about classic cars. Her appearances on The Essentials are painful to listen to, as she sounds like your average California mall rat. I say bring back Alec; didn't always agree with him, but he's a hell of a lot more insightful and intelligent that Drew.

Would you say the same thing about the esteemed Ben Mankiewicz as you are saying about Drew?

  3. > {quote:title=TCMfan23 wrote:}{quote}There never was a album called 'pet rocks'. You're probably referring to the beach boys album 'Pet Sounds'. It came out in the late 60s.

You mean you never heard of tha baroque pop album Pet Rocks by The Sepiatones? It was released on the Brown & White record label in 1969.

Who exactly created the album Pet Rocks? :^0

I'll ask you to be less dismissive when you feel the need to discuss with me. Thank you.

Interesting that you chose not to make a snide comment to ValentineXavier when he pointed out Rainy Day Women's title reference. ?:|

  5. They have the BEST SELLING studio album in the history of Rock & Roll.

"Back In Black" has sold 22 MILLION COPIES in the United States alone. That is more than any studio album by any rock band. Usually it's only greatest hits that sell in these kind of numbers.---OHMSS69

A little known band by the name of Fleetwood Mac released an album in 1977 that has sold 40 million albums worldwide. The name of the album is Rumours. Ever hear of that album or the band that created it? Get your facts straight before you post such rubbish.

Sirhan Sirhan has not seen the light of any day and he has exceeded the thirty year threshold.

You still can't take responsibility for calling me a piglet. It was a putdown, plain and simple. It is very ironic that you seem to find the posts that irritate you and proceed to step on your soap box and lecture others, it is always others, on their apparent transgressions. As I said, that is Michael's job and he does it well. I will address anyone as I see fit, so please spare me you acrimonious admonitions.

You should be careful about using judgmental phrases such as the likes of you or you may turn in to what you find objectionable.

As you recall, I was the one who put a halt to our previous dialogue because behind your erudite facade lies a fatal duplicity.

  8. > {quote:title=darkblue wrote:}{quote}Retards and kooks is not an improvement on nutjobs. If you can't have respect for others you need to find another forum to satisfy your impulse toward malicious namecalling. TCM forums are intended for discussion, not for bullies who resort to terms like those you're using.

Apparently, you are standing in for Michael, the TCMAdmin, today

    Alas, I do recall that you once called me a _ _ _ _ _ _

( that would be a six letter word of the swine family)

  9. ....but *no one* gives 2 hoots about President McKinley's assassination, not even the History channel!!

    Au contraire mon ami,

On C-SPAN 3 ( American History TV on weekends) they are airing a segment on The Ohio Presidents as part of their Columbus, Ohio salute. No doubt the Canton native will be discussed. It is to air on Sunday, September 2.

  10. *And there are two "Late Night" Essentials* *episodes still to premiere- The Wild Bunch in October........*

Oh wow, I get to hear Drew Barrymore talk about the signifcance of The Wild Bunch. Hey, I'll have to make sure I don't miss that. The Wild Bunch has aired several times this year so who gives a hoot if it is part of The Essentials.

That's akin to looking forward to brushing one's teeth in the afternoon as opposed to the morning. Much ado about nothing.

When is the last time that a TCM premiere had its network debut on The Essentials?

If a film has aired previously a multitude of times what is the real significance of its The Essentials premiere? Two additional minutes of discussion prior to its airing and nothing else.

  11. "The Essentials used to go on hiatus during August but TCM now programs SUTS by incorporating the series into the line-up. (Essentials, Jr. too)."

You mean they re-air previously shown Essentials from earlier in the year. By August, the Essentials schedule has been run in to the ground. And just think, we have until February 2013 before we get any new content. How clever of them to re-air the same programming with a different label. Cost cutting at the expense of unique programming..

  12. > {quote:title=Hibi wrote:}{quote}Goldie Hawn. Give me a break (Yeah, it might happen....) She's no Lombard...........

Oh, I think the ecumenical caucus thinks Goldie Hawn is in the same class as a Peg Bundy so therefore that would warrant a 24 hour block of Private Benjamin, Overboard and Wildcats. Wow, I can't wait for that Led Balloon to get off terra firma. That S.U.T.S. programming would be a disaster. Goldie Hawn should be given a day all to herself on Thanksgiving for all the turkeys in which she has been.

Why bother to even feature James Caan if the network (TCM) is unable to show his most celebrated film, The Godfather.? The fact that they don't have the rights to broadcast it should have deep sixed the idea of a Caan S.U.T.S. even before it got off the ground. Bad choice.
