I watch a movie on TCM about 3 or 4 years ago. It was with a couple that bought a nice house at the top of the hill, great bay window. Later he went to war, she thought he died. She went to work in a department store, the owner or owner's son fell in love with her. He then married her. she had a few more children, HOWEVER....her oldest son was the child of the husband believed to be dead...I think the son's name was John. Anyway, the former husband was not dead, he had some surgery on his face...looked different. He came back to the city and got a job at the new husbands business. the new husband brought the believed to be dead husband to the house...he instantly recognized her but kept it to himself. He began to spend a lot of time around the family and especially his own biologically son. The son wanted to go to war and the mother didn't wish to let him.... there was a seen where the son gets angry and disappears. The biological believed to be dead father goes to the train station to bring the son back home...the father was very ill...later dies at end of movie. when they go to his house...noticed letters or pictures of who he used to be. also, the believed to be dead husband had a little girl with him that he had rescued during the war.
