I saw a movie on TV when I was a kid back in the mid 1960's. It has haunted me for years because I don't know the name of it. Would love to see it again if I could just discover the title and look it up.
Unfortunately, I also don't know the names of any of the actors.
What I do know:
The movie was some sort of police/detective/thriller.
I believe the setting was the present (present for when the movie was made, that is). I think it was an old movie because of the clothing the actors wore (possibly early 50's or before).
Do not recall the plot but I vividly remember one scene:
The main character (man) was being chased by the police (mobsters?) and had a handgun in his possession he did not want them to catch him with (evidence of a murder?).
Anyway, he was pursued into what I recall as the lobby of a hotel. In the lobby, there was an old-fashioned telephone booth made of wood. The top of the booth was just below the ceiling of the lobby, leaving a narrow space. The man threw the gun up on top of the phone booth before he was caught.
Near the end of the movie, a number of years had passed and the gun was found, covered with dust.
That is all I can recall - no other scenes.
With all the knowledgeable people here, I am hopeful that scene description might ring a bell for a title, solving a mystery I have wondered about for over 40 years!
Haunting movie. Name, please.
in Information, Please!
