  1. After listening to all episodes, including the bonus episodes, we really enjoyed the bonus episodes with Hawks and Hitchcock.  Having grown up during the Peter B. era, we were never interested in his movies because of the press about him being a real jerk on and off the set.  He was definitely a member of the "Me" generation.  After listening to the podcasts, we still have no respect for the man.  The podcast seem to be trying to rationalize his behavior/existence.  As far as Peter B. the Director, he is definitely not in the same class as Houston, Hawks, or Wyler.  The great directors seem to make hit movies no matter the quality of the script or actors; not so with Peter B.    I could say the same about Ben M's moderation of the podcasts; he still seems to be rationalizing his existence as a TCM host.  We remember Ben's first day on TCM about 18 or 20 years ago;  He showed up unshaven, hair not combed, in blue jeans  (with holes in them, if we remember correctly).  He made a few sarcastic comments about the classic movie he was introducing, which apparently only he saw the humor in.  We didn't think he would last a month on TCM.   About the only thing he brought to the table was his name.   Since he obviously had no respect for himself based on his appearance, he could hardly expect TCM viewers to have any respect for him.  Today, his personal appearance has improved, but he still makes these little sarcastic jabs at the classic movies with a sense of humor that apparently only he understands.  We get seasick watching him introduce a movie with his hands flying in all directions.  (Tie his hands behind his back and he would be speechless).  He still has not earned our respect as a TCM host; he will never come close to being the host that Robert Osborne was.  Bottom line:  Watching the Bonus Episodes would be time well spent.

  2. I am totally depressed with TCM now that they have removed their useful Monthly Schedule that had descriptions of the movies. Now, I have no way to plan my movie a month in advance by downloading the schedule and doing an electronic search. It is pretty obvious that TCM is adding many more ways for you to spend your money on the website while removing useful content. When I called to complain, I was told I could get the monthly descriptions by subscribing to their month mag, Now Playing...cha-ching!... The sad thing is, this new policy will cause fewer hits on their website, and fewer opportunities for sells. I subscribe to NOW PLAYING mag already which is up for renewal. Because of their new policy, I will not renew, I will no longer come to this web site. I have Dish Network and there are many more movie channels out that that still give a complete downloadable list of their monthly movies for free.
