  1. Hi Terry, Great to hear you're thinking about going to the TCM Classic Film Festival. I was similar to you this time last year and wondered if I could really justify the expense of travelling from the UK just to watch some old movies. Turns out that the Festival is as good as you think it is and better, with the nicest, kindest, smartest people attending who are more than happy to chat to you at events, in the queue, while waiting for a film to start - any time! I had the time of my life, saw some amazing films, felt guilty for missing others and hope to return in 2012. I will
  2. Dear TCM Gang, Firstly, apologies for taking so long to post on the forum after the TCM Festival 2011. I don't have any good excuses apart from having a busy few months and the fact that time seems to slip away so quickly when you're not paying attention! I had a fantastic time in Hollywood and met some amazing people. Waiting in line to watch a film has never been so interesting, with people happy to chat about the next film or about what they had just watched or were planning to watch: it was never dull! Thanks to Kyle and everyone else who made me so welcome (and my girlfriend w
  3. Well we're both from Edinburgh and I live five minutes from Sean's old stomping ground of Fountainbridge, so there could be some relationship there! Do they sell haggis burger at the In and Out? That's all I eat :-)
  4. I'd love to come along to In and Out and meet everyone, if that's OK? I'll be the tall Scottish one (I'm not planning to take the kilt though!).
  5. Thanks for the suggestions, it sounds like Santa Monica isn't the best idea. I'm on a budget but I'm sure a few days in Hollywood would be fine. Kyle, I'm a film journalist in Edinburgh so keep an eye out for interesting events around the world. With such an impressive line-up it seemed like an opportunity not to be missed. I'll be writing about the event, and Hollywood, while I'm there. Jon
  6. I just booked on the Monday tour via the website with no problems, there seem to be a lot of spaces left.
  7. Hi all, I've just signed up to the forum to find out more about the TCM Festival, which I'm travelling to from Scotland in a few weeks. It's great picking up lots of tips from more experienced festivalgoers and I can't wait to arrive in LA. I'm still in the process of finding accommodation but Santa Monica is looking likely. I just wondered where everyone is travelling from to get to the Festival? Anyone else going from the UK? Jon
