Yep, it was Mary Hughes' blonde hair that made me instantly notice her whenever she entered a scene.. among her other attributes.. ;) Too bad they never gave her a bigger part in the beach party movies, she's best known for that opening scene in Bingo. Also I heard she was the girlfriend of Jeff Beck from the Yardbirds.

  2. > {quote:title=filmlover wrote:}{quote}Mike Nader was the one signature I deliberately ignored getting for my collage. He didn't know how to act, and it showed (gad, he was awful in every scene he was in in BBB), but I read the producer took an interest in him.

hahaha It was pretty funny when he gets hit in the face with the icecream cone at the beginning of Bingo. And when Bullets asks Jody McCrea his name for the news article about Sugar Cane, and he answers "Bonehead", then Bullets asks "Well, what do your friends call you?" and Mike Nader chimes in, "STUPID!". :^0

NO WAY! I always wondered who that guy was that took the huge leap off of the top of the truck at the beginning of Bikini Beach, just cause he made it seem effortless, hitting the sand in a tuck-and-roll from that height. That was Johnny Fain. I did a little more research and found out that the guys sitting on the very front of the truck are Duane King, another legendary surfer. The other guy is Michael Nader who would go on to play Dex Dexter in Dynasty. Filming that scene looked incredibly dangerous, if either of them slipped off the front of that truck, Frankie would have ran them over!

Another interesting bit of trivia, the guy grilling the steak at the beginning is also the director of the movie, William Asher.

  4. I guess the saying is true, "Google is your friend." B-)

I wonder if John Fain was in any of the other beach flicks. He does look really familiar now that i've seen a close up pic of him..

    hahaha.. they really should have!

oops, I posted the code for the wrong pic, thanks for the heads up! I corrected the picture. i adored Donna Michelle too. :x I never knew she was a playmate.

Your autographed Beach Blanket Bingo collage is amazing! I love framed memorabilia. Very cool. Thanks for posting that!

Catalina Caper is one of the very last beach party films, and one of my all time faves. I cant wait till tcm plays Beach Ball and Girls on the Beach in April, along with Blue Hawaii, Palm Springs Weekend, Bikini World, Endless Summer... ect!

  9. > p.s. -- to RowanMartin, re: your rolling eyes comment below re gender, I can only submit one you made..."You leave my buddy Johnbabe alone. So what if *he* loves Garbo." And you, too, have seen how touchy johnbabe is, responding to one of your posts the other day about "ridiculing" her topic.

That was Garbo rolling her eyes not me.. lol I honestly just saw the name John and thought it was a guy, either way who cares if she's obsessed. Live and let live, that's my bag.

I think he was so talented, such a nice person, I will miss him. He was my favorite Monkee. He was so charming and so sweet. He was a person that could light up a room as soon as he walked in and flashed that dazzling smile - a beautiful person. RIP.

    > For example, awhile back, at a time when you had created someting like 20 different threads about Garbo in a three-month period, the TCMWebAdmin asked you to keep your comments about GG to just one thread. Yet, here you are, now having created THREE different threads about the same movie with GG, "Inspiration," in three days (two on the 18th, and one on the 21st.)
