  1. I enjoyed this movie but it was hard to watch at times since the print was so bad. Any word on the 1941 remake with Kay Francis and Jack Benny? I know TCM couldn't show it due to rights issues....

    WOW

The "more killed in Vietnam than any other war" is just the start of the incorrect statements in this post. Oswald killed JFK. All the evidence, including Kennedy's head movement, point to being shot from the school book depository. Just about all the old consiracy stuff has been debunked by modern forensics. And no, they're not all in on the coverup....
  3. Darb

    WOW

As Shelby Foote pointed out, Patton's own grandfather was an American who lost a war, fighting for the confederacey... Foote found it hard to believe Patton actually said that....
  4. How about Mary Badham in "To Kill a Mockingbird"?
  5. The first that comes to mind is Kay Francis. She always wore low cut gowns and had no cleavage... http://img1.bdbphotos.com/images/orig/s/b/sbfunigabcqjufij.jpg I'm trying to think of an actress (pre 1945) with a chest and all I can think of is Mae West.... then came Jane Russell and the big boob arms race was on..... :^0
  6. if this is accurate... I'm most interested in Warren Williams and Kay Francis.......
  7. Re Charley's Aunt: The schedule in my local newspaper says '41 with Jack Benny and Kay Francis!
  8. I really hope it's the 1930 Charles Ruggles version of "Charley's Aunt" Monday night. I've not seen it, but the description sounds great...
  9. I got my reminder that "13 Ghosts" is playing on March 9th.... but apparently it's not. :_| Why am I being denied my schlocky horror film? *Hello , * *You asked us to remind you that "13 Ghosts (1960)"is playing on TCM on Fri, March 09, 2012 04:00 AM est.* **NOTE*:A TCM programming day begins at 6:00am EST on the calendar day listed and runs to 5:59am EST in the morning on the next day. 10. Palm Beach Story on May 2nd! :^0 A couple pre codes later that night, including one with Doroth Mackaill:p
  11. She surely did far more drama than comedy. I've seen "My Favorite Wife", which on paper should satisfy an "Awful Truth" fan, but I don't really care for it.... Speaking of the plot line of "Awful Truth".... so was Cary Grant in Florida or not? And if not, what was he doing? My wife thinks that he was in Florida, it was raining, so he wanted to get a tan so people wouldn't think he wasn't in Florida. I think he was fooling around, since he says, "what wives don't know won't hurt them".... And yes, Mr Smith was played by Skippy, who also played Asta....
  12. I love Irene Dunne in "the Awful Truth". Hard to believe she rarely did comedy, she was so good in this. Watched it again yesterday, one of my all time fav classic films.
  13. April 6th... Lots of Kay Francis!! Also the 19th.... "Dr. Goldfoot and the bikini machine"... I knew the Supremes sang this song (thank you Little Stevens Underground Garage) but never knew it was an actual movie.... can't wait
  14. 1931- *"Safe in Hell*" *Dorothy Mackaill* as a prostitute who kills one of her johns and has to flee the country....
  15. I hadn't seen CEofTK in about 30 years.... I don't think it holds up that well, though there are some very memorable scenes... I thought it was funny, when the citizens were at the press conference, the govenment was denying ufos.... they said "where is the good photographic evidence".... one of the journalists said something like " we have our people out with cameras all the time, yet have never caught a car or plane crash on film...." Today, there are whole shows (TrueTV) that basically show nothing but "caught on tape" car crashes etc.... Interesting that now that bascially everyone is walking around with a camera on their phone, that no one is taking photos of UFO's...... Anyway, the film looked very 1970's. I was amazed that they were using rotary phones... made me feel old....
  16. D'oh, I see there's a Twilight Zone thread in the Hot Topics forum.... I never look over there....
  17. The SyFy channel is running a Twilight Zone marathon, (currently, Sunday evening, they're showing the top 10 episodes.... Burgess Merideth just survied the nuclear bomb and now can read all he wants!) Anyway, I see at 2:30 tonight there's an episode with Joan Blondell and William Demerest. I don't think I know this one but I have my DVR set.... can't get enough of Ms. Blondell!
  18. Speaking of which.... I wish you could set up an email notification even if the movie isn't scheduled. Also, why do I have to enter my email adrress when I click on the reminder? I'm logged in, and this site already has my address.....
  19. These TV movies from the 70's gave me nightmares as a kid.... As mentioned "*Trilogy of Terror*" 1975, Karen Black and that african doll that comes to life. "*The longest night*" 1972. David Janssen. A girl is kidnapped and buried in a coffin with enough air and water for a few days. "*Helter Skeler*" 1976. The Manson murders. Truth is scarier than fiction. The actor who played Manson was incredible.... "*The Night Stalker*" 1972. Darren McGavin. Updated vampire tale. The vampire did things that seemed so logical to me, like going to a hospital to steal the stored blood. Great modern take. And in those days, with so few channels to choose from, everyone at school the next day was talking about those movies.
  20. Not to point out the obvious but... you can always click on the "schedule" tab on the upper left of this website and see what played every day this month....
  21. This is one of the saddest movies.... why show such a downer on Christmas? And one of my fav xmas films, "Remember the night" isn't shown at all this year....
  22. My fav Janet Gaynor movie is "Sunnyside Up"... a very early talkie (1929!). Not scheduled in the near future but one to watch for....
  23. "*Remember the Night*" with Barbara Stanwyck and Fred McMurray is my fav "lesser known" Christmas movie... dissapointed that TCM isn't showing it this year.
  24. The one that stands out for me is Williams Castle's "13 Ghosts".... I love those castle films...
  25. I like the 1930's version, just for Ann Rutherford. I'm disappointed they're not showing "Remember the Night", one of my fav xmas movies, with Barbara Stanwyck and Fred McMurray. And they're showing "a Christmas Story"... I'm surprised, since it's played on a loop on other channels this time of year...
