  1. Thanks for welcoming me back. I'm not going to be around this weekend, so I'll leave the thread open for someone else.
  2. Would it be Roland Young as Topper? He played Topper in 3 films -- Topper, Topper Takes a Trip and Topper Returns. There was a Topper TV show where Leo G. Carroll played Topper. Cary Grant was only in the first film and Constance Bennett was in the first and second film, but Roland Young was in all three. Billie Burke was in all three also as Topper's wife.
  3. I'm going leave the thread open for someone else. With my schedule, I'm going to be away from the computer for a few days.
  4. I think that it is Cocoon directed by Ron Howard. It has all the Howard family members in it. It seems like his brother Clint is in all of Ron's movies. The husband and wife team are the great Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronyn. Tyronne Power, Jr. is in the movie and his father was in lots of movies with Don Ameche (who won the Oscar in that role). Rachel Welch's daughter, Taynee, is in the movie also. This was tough! But this was a great movie.
  5. Thanks -- I will leave this thread open for someone else to pick up. Work is intruding too much on personal life this week.
  6. I think it is Key Largo -- Claire Trevor is the actress (winning the Academy Award for best supporting actress) and John Houston is the director. A heart-wrenching scene when she sings before Humphrey Bogart, Edward G. Robinson, Lareen Bacall and Lionell Barrymore.
  7. Thanks. I'm going to be away for a while, so I'll leave the thread open for someone else to pose a question. FOC
  8. I believe that it is Robert Walker. He died while making My Son John and they used shots from Hitchcock's Strangers on a Train. Walker was married to (and diveroced from) Jennifer Jones.
  9. Desi was in "Forever Darling" with James Mason (Lucy was in it, too) James Mason was in "The Verdict" with Paul Newman Next: Desi Arnaz, Jr.
  10. Darling Lilli (Paramount) and Star (Fox) -- both starring Julie Andrews
  11. Rosemary Clooney was in "White Christmas" with Bing Crosby Bing Crosby was in "Holiday Inn" with Fred Astaire Fred Astaire was in "Towering Inferno" with Paul Newman. That was Christmas Degrees of Paul Newman. To keep with the Christmas theme -- Edmund Gwenn -- Santa Claus
  12. Thanks. I'm going to leave the thread open for someone else to ask a question.
  13. Your last clue triggered my memory. Tyrone Power is one of my Mom's favorites and also a big star at 20th Century Fox. I got her a box set of Tyrone Power movies and two of the movies below are in that box set. The movies are: Love is News Sweet Rosie O'Grady That Wonderful Urge
  14. Judge Reinhold was in *Fast Times at Ridgemont High* with Ray Walston Ray Walston was in *The Sting* with Paul Newman Next: Jessie Eisenberg
  15. Yes, that's what I meant. My typing skills are only second to my proofreading skills!
  16. David Nelson was in Payton Place with Leon Ames Leon Ames was in On the Terrace with Newman. Now we can go back to Donna Douglas.
  17. Rhonda Fleming was in Gunfight at the OK Corral with Jo Van Fleet Jo Van Fleet was in Cool Hand Luke with Paul Newman Next: Irene Dunne
  18. Yes, Mr 6666, you are correct. It's your thread now.
  19. Name the movie based on these clues: -- A former song-and-dance man protects the President-elect.
  20. Would it be Gregory La Cava? My Man Godfrey for Powell and Stage Door for Rogers.
  21. Thanks, Cujas. What a challenging question. I will have to watch "Home from the Hill" again. Unfortunately, I'm heading out on a business trip, so I'm going to leave the thread open for someone else to take over.
  22. I think I got it -- Movie is Home from the Hill Robert Mitchum is the star -- and he never won an Oscar Vincente Minnelli is the director -- he won Oscars directing musicals William Humprey is the writer of the novel Sorry but I like Minnelli's musicals and comedies best.
  23. I'm going to leave the thread open for someone else to take up.
  24. Was it Grant Withers? The two supporting actors were James Cagney and Joan Blondell and the movies were Sinners Holiday (which aired last night) and Other Men's Women. Watching both those movies, you can see that Cagney grabs the screen effortlessly and does Blondell. Withers' performance was kind of hokey -- looking at from our perspective.
