I totally see the Powell/Ford resemblance, they look as though they could be brothers! Dick Powell is a favorite of mine and I began to like Glenn Ford, especially since the first viewings of The Big Heat and Human Desire, until I found out about his not-so-pleasant personal life (i.e. marriage to Eleanor Powell). He comes off very natural in some scenes but sometimes, his acting looks very forced, like in The Sheepman. It's almost like he's trying to be a "hard guy" instead of naturally coming across as one.
