  1. Ah! You are correct Sir! And you are alse right about Widmark's portrayal of a modern Captain Bligh being the best work he had ever done! I can't ait until it is shown on TCM again!
  2. What is the name of the great US Navel film in which Richard Widmark is a slightly overwrought captain of a sub-hunter during the cold war. His hard-nosed and somewhat manic intensity drives his men and their ship into the unnecessary escalation of the normal, peacetime monitoring of a targeted Russian nuclear well past the danger point...ending finally in the destruction of both ships by each others atomic weaponry. As a side not, you are aware of course, that this event actually took place and was the REAL cause of Harryhouson's "Beast from 20,000 Fathoms" release, and consequently, the beheading of a fine N.Y. City policeman!
