Monday, November 11 5:45 p.m. Glory (1989). Good account of the American Civil War and still probably Edward Zwick’s best film.

My top FF films of 2019 of the 1 that I have seen are …. 1. The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind (2019) Chiwetel Eijofor, UK [the majority of this is in Malawian with subtitles] This was a pretty decent directorial effort by Eijofor about a boy who tackles the drought problem in his Malawian village and his relationship with his authoritarian father. The title tells you what kind of picture it is really.

Sunday, November 10 8:15 a.m. Merrily We Live (1938). This was very hard to catch up with for the longest time. Featuring Billie Burke’s Oscar nominated supporting performance. Replaced in Canada with Our Betters (1933).

**Announcement** Tomorrow we switch to 2019. I have only seen one FF thus far and given that the major awards and the critics choices will not be announced until the end of the year I think we should have time to do a best of the decade review this coming week as well. Possibly a late Wednesday or Thursday start for the best of 2010 to 2019. Then the following Saturday we will do our top tens of all time for a week then just open up the thread after that to anyone who wishes to post. All done just in time for my jury duty summons!

A good triple bill would be this and Anna Magnani’s Volcano (1950) followed by The War of the Volcanoes (2012), the documentary about the making of the two dramas and the love triangle of Rossellini, Magnani and Bergman.
