2020
I have now seen all the film nominated for the Oscar and BAFTA Best Picture Award. Sound of Metal is regarded as a 2019 release by the imdb. Judas and the Black Messiah is regarded as a 2021 release. Lots of the 2020 films in competition for these theatrical film awards are from Netflix and Amazon. Normal theatrical release criteria has been loosened due to the pandemic. I'm doing the same. Even so, the films were hardly great.
My top films of 2020 (64 seen):
1. The Trial of the Chicago 7
2. The Father
3. David Attenborough: A Life On Our Planet
4. Greyhound
5. Promising Young Woman
6. The Dissident
7. Uppity: The Willy T. Ribbs Story
8. The Courier
9. On the Record
10. Nomadland
Runner Ups: Onward

Pinocchio (2019) Matteo Garrone, Italy
Nominated for Best Make Up in this year’s Oscar and BAFTA Awards. Not bad at all. Robert Benigni, who can often give a cloying performance was good as Geppetto. The two who played Cat and Fox were very good. But Pinocchio was wooden.

3:45 a.m. Guru the Mad Monk (1970). This sounds interesting …
A deranged 15th Century prison colony chaplain exploits his power to get money for his church including murder and grave robbing committed by his vampire mistress and one-eyed hunchback assistant. Moe and Larry above? Or Woody Tobias, Jr.?

5 a.m. Shake Hands With Danger (1970). Fun with construction site accidents.

He lived in Canada for many years. This from the imdb ..
Moved from Littleton, Colorado to Canada, because he felt it would be safer to live there. Two years after moving, he saw the news coverage on Columbine, and recognized some of the kids fleeing the school.
from wikipedia
In 2000, he was living in Marmora, Ontario, Canada.[19]

Here we go again. St. Patrick’s day. But no St. David’s day, Robbie Burns day or even Canada day for TCM’s subscribers north of the border! Well, it figures because as Orson Welles said, St. Patrick’s Day as we know it was invented by the Americans.

12:30 a.m. Odd Man Out (1947). Brilliant sound track (not the music) by one of the best, Harry Miller.

midnight. Citizen Kane (1941). George Coulouris (above) taking charge of the young Charles Foster Kane. Welles himself had a guardian take charge of him at a similar age. His name was Bernstein. Though the Coulouris character is named Thatcher in Kane, Welles gave the Bernstein name to the character played by Everett Sloane.
