1971 and I’ve also seen … Nausicaa (1971) Agnes Varda, France Docudrama about Greek political refugees in France. At times it could easily be mistaken for a Godard film. For me it was all a bit dated and not that engaging. Gerard Depardieu has an interesting cameo as a hippie petty thief.

We have not done 2020 as yet. I am getting a lot of screeners for awards consideration but when it comes to foreign language films the majority of them were actually released in 2019. But I may have a preliminary favourites list for 2020 by March.

Canada's news channels have been devoting long tribute segments to Christopher Plummer concentrating on his stage accomplishments. It is said that he came to terms with the popularity of The Sound of Music when he became older but thought the part was pretty limited in scope. -

1968 and I’ve also seen … Goke, Body Snatcher From Hell (1968) Hajime Sato, Japan. A passenger plane goes down in a remote area after an encounter with an alien flying saucer and everyone has to fight for survival soon thereafter. This got a dvd release on the Eclipse label so I thought perhaps it might have something worthwhile about it. i was so wrong.
