2:15 a.m  The Children Are Watching Us (1944).  Vittorio De Sica’s more famous, internationally acclaimed Bicycle Thieves (1948) follows but this lesser known film is also a gem and demonstrates why De Sica was probably the best director of amateur actors and children in film.

I don't think this counts as "limited screen time."  She's at least the fourth most important character in an ensemble movie.  There are Robert Duvalls and there are Beatrice Straights, and she's clearly a Duvall in this movie.
