Saturday, April 18 What, no Popeye? No Peter Bogdanovich? This is the second day in a row that TCM has thrown out the original schedule. 2:30 a.m. The Lady Vanishes (1938). Really slick Hitchcock thriller with Margaret Lockwood and Michael Redgrave. -

1968 The Human Bullet (1968) Kihachi Okamoto, Japan Absurdist look at WWII Japan as young recruit readies himself to be a kamikaze. It's tone reminded me in of Richard Lester’s How I Won the War (1967). Minori Terada won Japan’s Mainichi Award for Best Actor. Tatsuya Nakadai narrates. But it won’t be for everyone.

Sidney Poitier is one of those people that is like a magnet. As soon as you see him you are drawn to him. I saw him early in the morning just for a few moments. He was with a few other people walking through the MGM lot. Elegant as can be. On the way to work that day I saw a jet ski lying in the middle of a busy intersection. About 20 minutes later I saw Poitier and thought this is a memorable day. The riots broke out a little later. -

I saw Denzel in person once. Very cool ! And Sidney Poitier too. I saw him on the Sony/MGM lot the day the riots broke out in Los Angeles. Super cool! -

Jack Elam as Snaky in Once Upon a Time In the West (1968). Elam continued a tradition of bit parts in westerns with this Sergio Leone classic but somehow he managed to stand out without saying a word.
