  1. Friday, December 13 8:45 a.m. The Wild Man of Borneo (1941). This one sounds quite looney. With Frank Morgan.
  2. Thursday, December 12/13 Joan Blondell SOTM. 1:30 a.m. Lawyer Man (1933). How many films did Joan make in these few years!

  4. It is a very good film and the bonus interviews with Hardy Kruger and Patricia Gozzi who played the little girl are really fascinating. I watched them on youtube. Kruger is an amazing conversationist. I would recommend the interviews even if you cannot track down the film.
  5. Wednesday, December 11/12 12:15 a.m. The Black Stallion (1979). Well there you go. Almost a double bill with National Velvet (1944) which is on at 4:15 a.m. Just reverse the order. But National Velvet is replaced in Canada with Zebra In the Kitchen (1965) with Jay North, Martin Milner and Andy Devine.
  6. Tuesday, December 10 10:15 p.m. A Shot In the Dark (1964). My favourite of the Pink Panther films.
  7. 1970 Live Today, Die Tomorrow! (1970) Kaneto Shindo, Japan A disillusioned teen kills a security guard and goes on the run. It picks up when we flashback to the story of his mother (Nobuko Otawa from Onibaba) and her hardships.
  8. Monday, December 9 11:45 a.m. Gigi (1948). The original from France with a young Philippe Noiret. Replaced in Canada with Chandler (1971) .
  9. Sunday, December 8/9 2 a.m. Something Different (1963). Another Czech film from the 60’s.
  10. "Paul Lazzaro never forgets!" My favourite of Ron's was Slaughterhouse Five (1972) followed closely by Where's Poppa? (1970).
  11. I have a story about a film where a man was named "Sally." I was working in a cutting room about 1980/81 and we used to get boxes of 35mm release prints of films that we would use as "spacing" in the sound track lay. Most of our prints came from a lab in Montreal and there was lots of soft core porn. So at lunchtime some of us would run the prints on the moviola before putting them on the rack to be cut up as spacing. I ran a film called "Kid Sally." It was a circus picture and it was God awful. It was directed by Brian de Palma and starred Robert De Niro in the lead as a clown named Kid Sally. Years later I tried to find some reference to this film that probably never saw the light of day because it was so bad but found nothing. And it was a timed release print with full soundtrack that I watched. I now wished that I had kept that film. Anyone know of anything about this film?
  12. Saturday, December 7 10 a.m. Popeye: Females Is Fickle (1940). 10:07 a.m. Looking For Danger (1957). Long-in-the-tooth Bowery Boys and Stanley Clements. Oh, and Arabs and Nazis too.
  13. 1963 and I’ve also seen … The Squeaker/Der Zinker (1963) Alfred Vohrer, Germany A German Edgar Wallace mystery that takes place in modern London but everyone speaks German. Why they didn’t transpose it to Germany I don’t know. In any event it didn’t work for me. The mixture of drama and comedy was too odd by half. Klaus Kinski appears in a thankless bit part that typically should have had him wearing a hunchback.
  14. Friday, December 6 For me this is the most interesting thing that has been on in months. 8 p.m. The Dupont Show of the Month: Wuthering Heights (1958). With Richard Burton, John Colicos, Patty Duke, Denholm Elliott, Robert Flemying, Rosemary Harris, Bernard Miles and Cathleen Nesbitt. Wow. I hope the quality is half decent.
  15. Thursday, December 5 7:15 a.m. The Finger Points (1931). With Fay Wray and lower billed Clark Gable.
  16. Wednesday, December 4 10:15 a.m. The Prodigal (1931). With Lawrence Tibbett. Apparently full of racial stereotypes.
  17. I agree about Battle Circus. I thought Bogart was too old for June Allyson, whom Im not fond of either. But weird as he comes off as too old in this film but in real life was married to the dish, Lauren Bacall.
  18. Tuesday, December 3 My original pick of the day from the schedule when it was announced was The Defector (1966) playing at 12:45 p.m. It starred Montgomery Clift and Hardy Kruger. That has now been replaced by Battle Circus (1953). So I'll go with ... 4:40 p.m. Giant (1956).
  19. Monday, December 2 Back-to-back originals and remakes. I’ll go with these two … 2:45 a.m. The Sea Hawk (1924). With Milton Stills. This is replaced in Canada with Mutiny of the Bounty (1935). 5 a.m. The Sea Hawk (1940). With Errol Flynn.
  20. Yes, I have a very good dvd copy that gets played Christmas Eve each year.
  21. Sunday, December 1/2 Well, cut me liver ... 8 p.m. A Christmas Carol (1951). I’ve seen this film more than any other. Love it! Replaced in Canada with Executive Suite (1954). 3:45 a.m. Life Is Sweet (1990). Mike Leigh kitchen sink drama with Alison Steadman and Timothy Spall.
  22. Here are a few more late additions from films that I have recently seen or revisited that have made my top tens … 1945 Supporting Actress 9. GABRIELLE DORZIAT (Solange), Falabas/Paris Frills Dorziat above left. 1958 Actor 6. JEAN GABIN (Le Commissaire Divisionnaire Jules Maigret), Maigret Lays a Trap 1996 Actress 5. REGINA OROZCO (Coral Fabre), Deep Crimson
  23. 1958 9. Maigret Lays a Trap (1958) Jean Delannoy, France. Some terrific camerawork and performances in this French crime drama. Jean Gabin is sensational.
  24. Saturday, November 30 10 a.m. Popeye: Shakespearean Spinach (1940). 10:15 p.m. Burn! (1969). With Marlon Brando. Is this a premiere?
  25. Friday, November 29 6 a.m. The Biggest Bundle of Them All (1968). With Raquel Welch !!!! and some guy named Vittorio De Sica.
