Back about 40 years ago I saw a movie about a two riverboat gamblers. One who owned a riverboat and the other who was traveling on it. In the card game, the owner put up the riverboat as a bet, he lost it to the other. Many years later when the other man died he left the riverboat to his grandson in his will. His grandson came to the town and saw the boat and decided to fix it up as it had fallen in to disrepair. He met the granddaughter of the original owner, who happened to teach at the local high school. They took a liking to each other and she decided to help him fix up the boat and even had her students help. She used her grandfathers account at the hardware store to get supplies to help fix it up. It was almost finished when her grandfather found out and called the sherriff and was going to have the man arrested for stealing since they used his money to fix up the boat with his money. The grandson and granddaughter found out and with the help of the others decided to fire up the boilers and try to get it out of the dock before the sherriff came. They put all the trash and wood in the boiler and fired it up and just as the sherriff arrived the boat was already out on the river. The sherriff and the old man got in the a police boat and caught up with the riverboat and made them pull over. When they did the sherriff was going to arrest the grandson of the original man but they had pulled on the opposite side of the river which was a different county and the sherriff did not have the power. Does anyone know the name of this movie? I have only seen this movie once and would love to see it again. This is the best that I can remember, as I said it has been 40 years and I have only seen it once.
Thanks
