I've been trying to remember the name of a film and all I can come up with is the plot.
It was about a girl who's mother is dead and father is never home she has an african American nanny and younger male cousin who she spends all her time with. They spend the majority of the time in the girls kitchen. She has no girl friends at all. She cuts her hair and looks and acts like a tomboy. She gets upset when her brother gets married because she has her bags packed thinking she will move with him and his new bride. Her father has to drag her out of the car. Later her cousin dies and her nanny's brother gets in some kind of trouble. The end of the movie shows her hair has grown out, she is finally happy and has friends.
