I have been racking my brain trying to remember this movie. I was able to see this film some time ago in my youth and have not seen it since. It is B & W, starring Dana Andrews. All I remember is the ending and final scene. During torrential rain, Dana Andrews is on horseback, but it is "modern" times because he is being chased along a highway by police/highway patrol in cars. Andrews horse gets too close to the traffic lane and is struck by a car, rears and throws Dana off. The police rush to capture Dana as he is laying in the rain on the ground. They talk to him and Dana asks after his horse. Off camera, a gunshot rings out, and you know by Dana's expression that they have just shot his horse to put it out of it's misery. That's all I remember.
Does anyone recognize this?
