I realize that cultures feel the need to be represented in the way that they think they should be betrayed however, in the case of classic movies depicting Arab culture, Hollywood was not much off the mark in showing how Arabs live and behave. I lived in Saudi Arabia for several years in the mid-sixties. I found Arabs for the most part to be barbaric in nature and totally ill-logical on practical matters. For instance, my electrician father was forced to go to jail because a roll of "electrical tape" had been stolen and since my father was an "electrician" then of course all of the "electricians" were guilty of stealing the "electrical" tape. How backwards is that? Another incident of which I witnessed my self. A man was caught stealing some bread and then lied about it. With no trial, no witnesses, the man was tied to a chain link fence and both of his hands and tongue was cut off... I enjoy seeing these old movies that protray Arabs just as they really were and still are today! Sorry, but I'd rather be honest than "politically correct!!!"
