  1. And while Dino was never any Olivier, he would surprise me with how good he was in The Young Lions and Some Came Running. Btw, here's a little something showcasing Dino and the actor (who some think IS the real "King of Cool" ) who would basically reprise the same role in El Dorado that Dino had in Rio Bravo...AND who co-starred together and as is mentioned in this clip, in the film 5 Card Stud...
  2. Hey Sepia! Did you recognize a young John Vernon in this thing? (...you know..."Dean Wormer" in Animal House, and also very good as Lee Marvin's antagonist in Point Blank)
  3. Well, I don't know about YOU guys here, but I was havin' a MUCH better time talkin' about CARS with Mr.G up there in this thing than I EVER did about these damn culture wars we're in today! (...guess you could call ME an "uber-"or "ultra-" "gearhead" here, huh) LOL
  4. Hey, and speaking of Karen...here's what might be the nicest picture ever taken of her...
  5. So, you're sayin' he'd take more after his father then? (...depending of course upon if the Elam family genes were dominate)
  6. I sometimes wonder if Elam here had fathered a child with Karen Black, would it have balanced out the kid's vision? (...yeah yeah, I know...I DO contemplate the STRANGEST things, don't I?!!!)
  7. Thanks, Brian! (...btw, did YOU ever see any vague resemblence between Elam and Garner too?)
  8. Would that have been Tracy Nelson, Tom? Can't think of her without thinking of her guesting on the Seinfeld sitcom, and where the storyline consists of her dating George but it becomes another of his short-lived romances because everyone thinks she looks just like Jerry, and this thought starts to wear on him...
  9. Actually, not so nice here, TB. Nope ya see, what you DON'T see is that she's holding a metal coat hanger above her head here! (...yeah yeah, I know...low hangin' fruit here, huh...sorry)
  10. And now for probably the nicest picture Jack Elam ever took... Just to give this thread a little balance, ya see. (...btw, it's probably just me here, but for some reason I've always thought Jack kind'a sort'a looked like James Garner...on a REALLY bad day, of course)
  11. DreamFactory, I sympathize with your concerns here, but tell me: Because as I understand this it seems there are no legal present owners of this property, who would you say should be responsible for the costs of taking this house from a fire trap (and as I understand it, the reason city officials want it razed) and to a point where it is once again habitable?
  12. OR, maybe John Wayne just gave out an inordinate amount of pheromones AND to such a degree that ANY woman regardless their age just found him irresistible. And so, maybe it was more her olfactory than her sense of vision or lack thereof which did the trick in Angie's case here. (...yeah, THAT could be it TOO, ya know)
  13. Me neither, actually Mr.G. A "lawn", that is. The vegetation around my home here among the red rock monoliths and red shale ground of Sedona would be native to the area, and as you might guess, drought resistant. Tried growing a little patch of grass about 15' X 12' a few years ago at our former house here, but it took so much water and tending to that I finally just gave up on it. Our present house backs up to a very private and yes actually very wooded area of one of the golf courses around here. (...and no, if you might be wondering, there are no saguaro cactus around here...we are at an altitude of 4,000' here in Sedona, and that type of flora does not like it any higher than 3,000', and so they're all down in the Phoenix and Tucson area and the Sonoran Desert...with the topography of AZ being quite varied from the low desert areas to the mountainous higher elevations of cities such as Flagstaff which sits at 7,000' and which is surrounded by a Ponderosa pine forest, there are many more climates in this state than people who have never visited here tend to think)
  14. Now what's the chances here? How coincidental?! On tonight's episode of Jeopardy! there was an "Omaha" category, and in which only 2 of the 5 questions in it were answered correctly by the three contestants. (...but no, no question about Fred Astaire was asked)
  15. Sounds like you might be pretty protective of your lawn too, eh fellow geezer?!
  16. So, neither Donald Sutherland or Alan Alda are in this one, eh?! (...nor Harry Carey, Randolph Scott or Daniel Day-Lewis for that matter, eh?!)
  17. Yes, but "Sir Rickster". Do you think this might have anything to do with her maybe wanting to marry into royalty? Marrying into royalty can be quite the aphrodisiac for some women TOO, ya know! (...uh-huh, I hear that there's a lot of advantages to marrying into royalty...take that Markle chick for instance!) LOL
  18. Yeah, I understand that one really sucks.
  19. Yep, true. My wife is into more current and contemporary recording artists, and I have to admit I occasionally overhear one that she's playing and that I find myself liking.. (...BUT in general, it's pretty much Classic Rock for the kid...ahem...I mean the old geezer here)
  20. Uh-huh, and compared to what's winning Grammys now days. And, it actually has a melody. Seemingly rare in the music the kids listen to today. (...says this old geezer here)
  21. Actually, and from what I remember from that old class of mine, the "Electra Complex" in a general sense could be mentally transferable to any much older male and by the young female in question, and thus explaining why some women find much older men to be sexually attractive. (...and not just her father)
  22. Gotta say Vautrin, you've crofted...ahem...I mean CRAFTED better here, dude! (...nope sorry, you're not gonna get any...ahem...seals of approval on this one from me, ol' boy)
  23. Because it doesn't feature any A-listers in its cast, John Ford's often lesser regarded western (by some...not me) Wagon Master (1950) has now come to my mind in these regards. (...this ensemble cast filled with character actors such as Ward Bond, Ben Johnson and Harry Carey Jr. work well together, I've always thought)
  24. What?! Didn't they cover the "Electra Complex" when you guys took Psych 101 back in the day????
