Her first daughter was born mentally **** because this actress contracted measles during her only appearance at the Hollywood Canteen--the uncredited inspiration for the plot of the Agatha Christie movie The Mirror Crack`d (1980).

We're kindred spirits, cujas--she's my favourite character actress, too! I agree that she is good in *Daddy Long Legs* with the 2 Freds--Clark & Astaire--but my favourite is still *Pillow Talk*. Just watched her again tonight in *The Mating Game*. She always makes me laugh.
Your thread now, "toots" ...

After moving from the theatre to Hollywood, I directed 35+ feature films over 5 decades. I was known for my stylish film noir mysteries in the 40s, moving on to adaptations of popular novels and stage plays in the 1950s and 1960s. I was a bit of a bad boy for pushing the censorship boundaries on a few occasions. I was not always easy to work with; however, my work was good and I was twice nominated for the Best Director Academy Award.
Who am I? What was my first movie to push the censorship boundary? 3 lead actors?

Yes, it makes me wonder how many of her diamonds fit into this category. Since you shine like a diamond yourself, mudskipper, it's your thread now ...

No, the title has to do with the traits themselves.

How about Raymond Nicholas Kienzle, aka Nicholas Ray?
Originally recommended for a scholarship with Frank Lloyd Wright (where he learned the importance of space and geography, not to mention his later love for CinemaScope), political differences came between the seasoned architect and his young protege, so Ray left for New York and became immersed in the radical theater. He joined the Theater of Action and later the Group Theater, which is where he met his good friend Elia Kazan. This friendship shows in Ray's similar movie themes about loners with lots of angst.
Can we advance to Jeopardy Movies for $400?
