Frank, Anne - Millie Perkins in *The Diary of Anne Frank* *(1959)*

How about Frank Capra's 1938 *You Can't Take it with You.* Jean Arthur's family was definitely screwball in this one.

Thanks for your insightful comments, Countess!! I think I will take the splurge for the "full meal deal." After all, when will I ever get another opportunity to attend a Vanity Fair party? I'm coming and am dressing glam for sure!! I had already decided to dress retro even before I knew this year's theme was all about STYLE. This is going to be so much fun!!! Hope to meet you there.

Do You Get Your Friends Into TCM?
CarolAirey replied to RooseveltSteinway's topic in General Discussions
Yes, I have been able to get my friends interested. It's easier for females, I think, as we can organize a girls' night and just happen to slide in an old classic film to get people hooked. My teenage kids not so much. Sean, in particular, laughs at the high-waisted pants the men all wore; however, when I see something that is noteworthy or might be of interest, I have him watch just a part of a movie, hoping that some day he'll sit through a full movie with me. I kept sharing my excitement about attending the 2012 Classic Film Festival and now one of my girlfriends asked if she could come too. So lookout, Hollywood, Carol and Sally are coming to town!! -
9) At one point, Cary Grant's character wears a woman's maribou-trimmed negligee, and when asked why, replies in an exasperated tone, "Because I just went gay all of a sudden!", leaping into the air on the word "gay." It is not certain whether the word is being used in its older sense of "happy", or whether it was intentionally a joking reference to homosexuality. Regardless of the intent, Cary pulls off the scene beautifully!
