Hmm . . .yeah, I've heard that argument. We've been deregulating since Reagan. So where are the jobs?

Don't know but Harry S. sure looks like a nerd. Plus he's ugly! (that's two strikes against him which means he'd never be president today)

  3. It was an inside job

    By the well-connected

    Your little protest

    Sumarilly rejected

    It was an inside job

    Like it always is

Chalk it up to business as usual

    And it's an inside job

    Favors collected

    Your trusted servants

    Have left you unprotected

I don't know, guess cause your post directly succeeded mine. To be honest, I wasn't sure. I see now you were referring to all of us on these boards.

Or I could just say "You WEREN'T referring to me. I'm NOT a contrarian!" (ha ha)

Definitely coulda been worse! Nice feet, btw.

That's actually a kind of joke I play on my friends who know I'm a film buff but don't share my interest. I tell them about this great movie I saw & then I describe the movie I described in this thread. You should see their eyes glaze over.

    I'll have to try that.

  7. > {quote:title=ValeskaSuratt wrote:}{quote}The problem with Audrey as Holly is the same as when she played Liza Dolittle: Hepburn was far too elegant a lady to capture the necessary impetuous, "fresh from the gutter" wackiness which Henry Higgins expresses so beautifully with "She's so deliciously LOW !"

    > This is especially obvious in "Tiffany's" when Holly's husband, Doc, tracks her down and Audrey's rigidly exquisite diction clashes with Buddy Ebsen's down-home twang.

She had no job, but accompanied expense-account men to the best restaurants and night clubs, with the understanding that her escort was obligated to give her some sort of gift, perhaps jewelry or a check ... if she felt like it, she might take her escort home for the night. So these girls are the authentic American geishas ..."

I agree Marilyn could have been really good (albeit different) in the part. But you're gonna have a hard time convincing people (me included) that Audrey wasn't absolutely perfect in the role.

  8. > {quote:title=Geraldddddd wrote:}{quote}Remember, the back story about Lula Mae basically took care of Fred until they met Doc and he went off to the Military. I can't see Marilyn taking care of anyone except herself frankly. In her films its always about her one way or another.

Gonna have to respectfully disagree. What about THE MISFITS? She spends the whole movie taking care of the "three, dear, sweet, dead men."

I didn't mean "end of discussion" literally, slayton. You have my blessing to discuss all you want. Just meant that I feel strongly that not only is RAGING BULL the best boxing movie ever (& I'm pretty sure a lot of knowledgeable people agree with me) but it's SOOOO much better than the 2nd best as to be almost laughable. Of course, this is all subjective opinion.
