  1. Emgee, since a clip doesn't appear to exist there isn't much point in asking for it. I Googled "Mrs. Miniver slaps German" and nothing. To the OP, I have always wondered that too. It was such a good question that I even posted it (just now) at imdb. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0035093/board/post/tt0035093 I'll post back here if I get a response.
  2. Am I the only one that isn't getting them anymore? I went to their site to see where to sign up, thinking perhaps my subscription expired but I don't see a place anywhere. I really hope that they didn't stop this valuable free service.
  3. As far as I understand it, only Rave theaters are screening it. I am so excited. I was only 11 when it came out and wasn't able to see it, but I didn't miss that second one. I saw that one in theaters. The funny part is I'm not a slasher film fan, but this one stood out for me. I'm not sure why. Maybe because it had two great actors (Curtis and Pleasance). Hopefully I'm not the only one here going.
  4. > {quote:title=Sepiatone wrote:}{quote}The scathing treatment of 1997's *Titanic* illustrates the prejudice of the "classic" film enthusiast. Really? Is that the whole of why you believe classic film lovers hate it? I love classic film and I don't "hate" the movie. I don't think it's worthy of all its attention, but I don't hate it. The one thing I hate is the incessant "JACK!" shouting throughout most of the film. I once sat down and actually counted them. It was over 100, but unfortunately I didn't keep the record. I sure wish I had. James Cameron is a not a great director. His
  5. Must've been only a few months old when I joined. And another thing, I have 3 friends. One I got today, but 2 were yesterday. Notice that it says zero and it's way over a few minutes. I posted a screen cap on blogger, [which you can find here:|http://magnoliasouthc.blogspot.com/2012/10/the-tcm-anomaly-of-day.html]
  6. I've a feeling the original poster may have stayed awhile if users wouldn't have complained. Just saying. Board games: Clue, Monopoly and Scrabble Present app games (those change moment by moment): Word to Word, Cut the Rope, Where's My Water and Bubble Shoot. Xbox: LA Noire
  7. Phew! I thought it was just me. In fact, I was trying to respond to your Hitchcock game when I realized all was not well.
  8. > {quote:title=Drosera wrote:}{quote} perhaps it was fixed? > Evidently not. It's a bit depressing to see that this has been a problem for a month, at minimum.
  9. I've a question. What is the logic behind the part of the email watch update that says, "To respond to this post, please click the following link:"? The link does not let me respond to the post at all. Instead I get an "Authenticating..." message then it defaults back to the Forum Home page. I have to close that tab, then click the link again, then it takes me to the thread and not the post itself. The thread link works, but that respond link is a pain.
  10. > {quote:title=BEATLESRULE wrote:}{quote}Is there any way to search for others people in this community to see if they share the same commonalities as me such as favorite actor, groups, films, etc. thanks Great question! I don't understand why CFU and these forums are kept separate. It would be nice if we could connect the profiles together, so this could be done.
  11. I'm having trouble today. All was working fine then suddenly *poof*, it's all gone. Cookies enabled for me too.

My ex-husband was like that and for that matter, my current husband is like that too. Sadly, I'm just the opposite. I tend to be an insomniac night owl, which I hate. I'd much rather be able to easily go to sleep and get up early, rather than both the opposite.
  13. > The best thing about it is Holly's wardrobe. That much is true. That's the only thing in that movie that is interesting at all... besides the cat. UGH! I do not like the formatting in the forum. Sorry for all the edits. Edited by: magnoliasouth on Oct 27, 2012 12:36 PM
  14. Even the Classic Movie MeetUp group I joined will attract people who've never seen Casablanca! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?! Just out of mere curiosity, what do they consider classic?
  15. I only wish I could connect with similar people in the DC area who share my interest in the sort of movies that play on TCM in the 21 non-prime time hours. There are book clubs galore, but I've never heard of anything similar for hard core film buffs whose taste in "old movies" extends beyond the type that run on PBS on Saturday nights. Funny you should mention that! I was about to post that very point on book clubs elsewhere. I too would love to connect with others, but I don't think that will happen anytime soon, which is a shame.
  16. Thanks for the heads up. I'll mark that on the calendar.
  17. Fox has its own movie channel now, but I've been disappointed in its programming. It doesn't often show the really oldies.
  18. I can only think of one that I don't see listed, but try Father Goose. That's adorable.
  19. Sounds like Christmas in Connecticut with Barbara Stanwyck. Could also be Holiday Inn with Bing Crosby.
  20. Hmmm. I can't think of any at the moment, but I do have some. I've often wished that there was a website that would save a list of movies that we want to see and notify us when it shows up in TV listings. If only!
  21. Seven Samurai (1954), no question. The irony is that it was probably the last thing I would ever want to see in my life. I was a little bit angry at my husband, so I stomped off into the living room. He lived in Japan for many years and loved it. I saw Seven Samurai was on and I deliberately turned it to that channel and turned it up. This way, when his curiosity could stand it no more, he'd have to come in there and apologize, just so he could see what it was. ] It worked too! In the meantime, I was immediately drawn into the story and was amazed by it. I told my husband that I was so gla
  22. Right this very minute I'm listening to *Hotel California* by the *Eagles* because I love it. I'm into classic rock and this one is at the top of the list. My least favorite is anything Billy Idol, Guns-n-Roses or Joan Jett. ICK! Oh, and this may be blasphemy, but I don't much care for the Rolling Stones either. There are a couple of songs I like, but only a couple.
