*It's not just Peck, either. I've got the same reaction to Gary Cooper. OTOH an equally "stoic" actor, Robert Ryan, is one of my top 10 actors ever.*
It's kind of funny to think about the terms "stoic" and "wooden" and how different people apply each to different actors. For me, Peck's "stoicism" works but I think of Cooper's acting as "wooden". I think Peck's character works really well with the Mitchum character in *Cape Fear*, a nice counterbalance. With some of Robert Ryan's roles, you can see a whole lot brimming underneath the surface (I like Ryan).

Dothery, in honor of your post, here's one just for you!

:^0 I didn't know that Day was renown for her derierre, but I agree that she's an attractive woman.

I love that website. There are a lot of 'rarer' photos of stars there (either dressed in rabbit suits or not).
(From another source), here's Myrna Loy.

LOL. :^0
Here's a more dignified Hayward picture.
Not all stars partipated in this kind of thing, I don't think. I can't imagine Bogart or Edward G. Robinson in a bunny suit...

Great photos, gagman.

Here's Ann Miller in an unusual Easter bonnet that was probably never worn outside the photographer's studio.

Thank you, Fred, that's a beautiful photo with Laraine Day!
And speaking of Doris Day, here's another Easter promo photo (what a star has to go through to keep her name in lights!
)

*Do you know who the other gal was?*
Hi James - according to the source of the photo, the other girl with Jean Arthur is Doris Hill (I've never heard of her...)

While it's wonderful to see all these thought-provoking Easter-themed epics on TCM today, here is a more 'lighthearted' thread to acknowledge the holiday.
Jean Arthur, at right, circa 1929, wishes everyone a Happy Easter. Hope your day is good, with warm weather and sunshine.
(I'd read that Arthur despised doing these kind of promo pictures, but here we are enjoying them 84 years later.

As soon as I heard that voice I knew who it was.
I remember him most as the character Henry in the TV show "Alice". (Yes, I remember his voice in "Top Cat", too.) -

I was just reminded of a Burns and Allen episode where Gracie enters the kitchen searching everywhere, under the table, in cabinets, calling, "Here, little Sheba, come back little Sheba!" George is sitting there, astonished. Gracie is trying to cover something up with a lie, and is explaining with her usual scatterbrained logic that Sheba is a drunken dog who ran away. I wish I could remember exactly what it was about but it's one of their funniest episodes (imo) - any "B&A" fans to help me out here?

This same cat I know (she's not mine, more's the pity) does know the word "treat". When I ask her if she wants a "treeeeeat", she gets a little excited. :^0
-
*The only way to lead a cat is to find a hungry one and hold some food in your hand, wave it at the cat, and then walk away. He will then follow you.*
I know a cat with dog-like qualities. I can be in the kitchen, shake the plastic bottle of cat treats up and down, and she comes running in from the other room.

(I also knew another cat who used to get excited at the sound of the electric can opener, thinking a meal for her was coming)
