Jane Wyman was in "The Blue Veil" with Joan Blondell

KD, the first two photos are of Carole Lombard. If Lombard is also the third, I don't recognize her!

Hm... I guess that leaves "Metropolis" out. *Modern Times*?

*But for the half time act we get a lip singing pop act. Hey I understand this since jazz is often too complex for most people to enjoy (but New Orleans type jazz is some of the most basic and easy to follow). I guess I should be happy that jazz music is even mentioned today.*
Give me jazz over a lip-syncing pop act any day, James!
It seems that today, all over the radio, a lot of what I hear is techno pop (or electronic dance music, closer to what I mean), with banal lyrics and the singer's voice totally distorted and buried in the mix. I can't say that music (speaking specifically in the U.S.) has a bleak future, because it's constantly morphing and changing, but I find that personally, I think the music "of yore" had more quality... And still, there is some good music out there today. Not to be too dismissive and cranky.

If there were no calories to account for, I could eat ice cream as my three squares a day.

Hi Leo - if you are still looking for the Dana Andrews book, you can order it on amazon:

*Too cold for sundaes, I'm afraid!*
Wow, truly? I could eat ice cream in the middle of January in Antartica at midnight. If I'm cold, I'll just throw a blanket over me, lol! Still, I do hate the cold weather, though I'm also a former New Yorker like Lav.
Okay, back to the game. It's Hibi's turn. One of these days I'll get a more difficult question on these trivia threads. It isn't like I've never seen the movies, but I'm always stumped by the questions.

Lol... She's the person I'll be replacing (she's retiring), so that part doesn't matter.
She's the same one who in the past has played opera so loud in her office that my flesh used to crawl (along with my officemate's) in the office next to her.. -
Yesterday my boss lent me a 4-CD set of jazz music, samples from the early roots to the present. While I'm not a huge jazz fan I can definitely listen to and appreciate it, and can pick out particular songs.
Anyway, last night on this set I discovered this gem. Bessie Jones and "The Buzzard Lope":

For a lot of the day today I can't get the refrain of Sedaka's "Laughter in the Rain" out of my head...

"Oooooh, I hear laughter in the rain...."
