  1. Agreed! Plus with "Luftballons", there were two versions on the radio - English and German (they couldn't leave well enough alone with one language...). But here's the video anyway, for the listening pleasure of the public ] :
  2. Science! Which reminds me of, "She Blinded Me With Science", by Thomas Dolby. (for the record, I haaaaaate this song...): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1p6fTDGLHGQ
  3. I still have a five-cassette set of the Burns and Allen Show. I used to listen to them a lot during trips to India for a nice change of pace. I know of websites that sell OTRs on CD now. Fun to listen to.
  4. *Young looks as if he's been around the block, under the block, and over the block a few times.* I remember a time my brother and I were watching him perform on some tv program and my brother commented sarcastically, "Yeah, he's burnt!" (it was funny at the time but not a very nice thing to say, especially coming from such a loser as my brother...) Here's a Young song that takes me back to my youth, "Heart of Gold" (my speakers suddenly aren't working right now so I hope this is the right studio version): Edited by: EugeniaH on Nov 2, 2012 7:46 AM
  5. That's one of my all-time favorite videos. I remember first watching it when I was in a weakened flu state with fever and the video scared me! :^0 Happy Hallowe'en, one and all.
  6. I've seen #1-4, 6 and 8. Liked #1 and 8 the best. Would never see in a million years: #9.
  7. Love it! Interesting idea. But along with a thin body, you'd also have ulcers and gray hair. I'd prefer to get in shape the old-fashioned way. I can't watch horror movies much stronger or more realistic than classic Dracula or Godzilla... (though I'd make exceptions for some films, like *The Shining*).
  8. Here's another powerful song that Young wrote (my apologies if this has already been posted): "Ohio" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82CYNj7noic
  9. *I am still concerned about people.. I need updates.* finance hasn't been posting in a while - hope he is okay. When I'm not sitting here laughing out loud at my computer screen, it means he's not online.
  10. In *Jason and the Argonauts* (1963), Niall MacGinnis played Zeus.
  11. I'm also not above playing Post Office...
  12. Lol - good job, Lance! If you're going to make a list, do it in style.
  13. Welcome to the boards, Kamelija. I think a Tierney box set is a great idea. My two favorites among your suggestions are *Leave Her to Heaven* and *The Razor's Edge* (in that order).
  14. He was handsome, for sure, but my tastes run more to the Lancaster/Grant type.
  15. When I was much younger I saw the 1950s *Titanic* on tv, but I was bored stiff with the drama, wanting them to just get on with it so I could watch the boat sink at the end... With the 1997 version, I thought the special effects were pretty good (regarding the sinking), but I don't much like the acting/drama with the leads.
  16. For board games I would say Monopoly is my favorite. Every once in a while my friends and I get together to play board games - they are fun, and a nice nostalgic reminder of our pasts (especially with all the technology that has come since; I wonder if board games aren't thought of as dinosaurs in this day and age). I also like backgammon, Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, checkers, and I used to play Life a lot when I was young. For computer games, I like relaxing over Spider Solitaire, sometimes with good music in the background.
  17. Lol. It's enough to make you want to run up and give the big palooka a hug... (Seriously, I agree with you, Sepiatone.) Edited by: EugeniaH on Oct 29, 2012 8:32 AM
  18. I came across it in another thread: November's SOTM is Constance Bennett.
  19. Groovin' in the mid-Sixties: Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass with "A Taste of Honey" (1965). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrzkJBEcTbk
  20. Actually, Godzilla was the very first monster I thought of, but chose the others because to me they are 'scarier'. But yup, I cut my teeth on Godzilla movies!
  21. Adding to my post below: on the other hand, I hate it when I'm watching a movie and I fall asleep unexpectedly - I wake up quickly and realize I don't know what's going on in the movie, how much time went by, etc. Ugh.
  22. For me it would be a toss up between Frankenstein and Dracula, but no movie monster thread is complete without mentioning the great Godzilla.
  23. *I LOVE DOING THAT! -- It's comforting.... They're like lullabies to me, I guess.* I've done that also. Sometimes I'll want to take a nap but though my body is tired I can't fully relax because my mind is racing with things I'm worried about. So I'll pop an old movie in the DVD player and watch that to relax until I fall asleep. Funny you mention "Blandings" because that's one of my favorite 'comfort movies' - that is, a movie I can just completely relax to while I'm watching. It doesn't require a whole lot of thought or emotional involvement.
