Here's another powerful song that Young wrote (my apologies if this has already been posted):
"Ohio"

*I am still concerned about people.. I need updates.*
finance hasn't been posting in a while - hope he is okay. When I'm not sitting here laughing out loud at my computer screen, it means he's not online.

-
In *Jason and the Argonauts* (1963), Niall MacGinnis played Zeus.

-
I'm also not above playing Post Office...

Having lived in New York for much of my life, I know how bad these storms can get. Sending you all good thoughts and hope you are all safe and sound.

Lol - good job, Lance! If you're going to make a list, do it in style.

Welcome to the boards, Kamelija. I think a Tierney box set is a great idea. My two favorites among your suggestions are *Leave Her to Heaven* and *The Razor's Edge* (in that order).
-
He was handsome, for sure, but my tastes run more to the Lancaster/Grant type.

-
When I was much younger I saw the 1950s *Titanic* on tv, but I was bored stiff with the drama, wanting them to just get on with it so I could watch the boat sink at the end...

With the 1997 version, I thought the special effects were pretty good (regarding the sinking), but I don't much like the acting/drama with the leads.

For board games I would say Monopoly is my favorite. Every once in a while my friends and I get together to play board games - they are fun, and a nice nostalgic reminder of our pasts (especially with all the technology that has come since; I wonder if board games aren't thought of as dinosaurs in this day and age).
I also like backgammon, Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, checkers, and I used to play Life a lot when I was young.
For computer games, I like relaxing over Spider Solitaire, sometimes with good music in the background.

Lol. It's enough to make you want to run up and give the big palooka a hug...
(Seriously, I agree with you, Sepiatone.)

The Go-Go's: "Lust to Love".

Yep, oh boy! B-)

I came across it in another thread: November's SOTM is Constance Bennett.

Groovin' in the mid-Sixties: Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass with "A Taste of Honey" (1965).

Actually, Godzilla was the very first monster I thought of, but chose the others because to me they are 'scarier'. But yup, I cut my teeth on Godzilla movies!

-
Adding to my post below: on the other hand, I hate it when I'm watching a movie and I fall asleep unexpectedly - I wake up quickly and realize I don't know what's going on in the movie, how much time went by, etc. Ugh.
-
For me it would be a toss up between Frankenstein and Dracula, but no movie monster thread is complete without mentioning the great Godzilla.

*I LOVE DOING THAT! -- It's comforting.... They're like lullabies to me, I guess.*
I've done that also. Sometimes I'll want to take a nap but though my body is tired I can't fully relax because my mind is racing with things I'm worried about. So I'll pop an old movie in the DVD player and watch that to relax until I fall asleep. Funny you mention "Blandings" because that's one of my favorite 'comfort movies' - that is, a movie I can just completely relax to while I'm watching. It doesn't require a whole lot of thought or emotional involvement.
-
Wow, count me in this "I don't like BAT" club. Yes, I also thought I was the only person who didn't like this movie. I saw it once years ago, and that was it. I now don't even remember most of it, beyond the fact that Holly Golightly annoyed the bejeezus out of me.
-
I work 40+ hours a week and have a lot of interactions in my job, so at the end of the day I love to come home, shut the door, and turn on an old movie. It's a form of decompression for me. At the moment I don't have cable so I rely on my DVD collection or Netflix/Classicflix for entertainment. I usually eat dinner while watching, but somehow I can't eat a meal if the film is very emotional or "demands a lot of attention".
When I went to movie theaters, it was always with friends, but once I went alone and it was a great experience. I got to really relax - I wasn't thinking of the person/people with me and I also didn't have my one friend continually making comments and hitting me in the arm (sheesh!). (Though, that said, it can be fun to have an enthusiastic friend with you for really funny comic films.)

Note for misswonderly -
The most bizarre thing just happened. A pm just showed up in my Inbox, from you, dated September 4! Wow, talk about this quirky board! Please know that I didn't ignore your message, and I also just replied. Thanks!!

Okay, sorry, on with the music! (speaking of Traffic, I love the song "John Barleycorn":

I well remember XTC! Here's my favorite tune by them (I even have it on my iPod), "Senses Working Overtime":

Great idea for a thread - thanks! Even if I can't make it to the event, I like looking at the photos.

CLASSIC MOVIE IMPRESSIONS

Wow, Monescu, this clip is wonderful (I didn't have time to listen before now). I think the Jimmy Stewart impression is my favorite - that one was absolutely dead-on.
I wish you had spent more time on each actor.
