So hard for me to remember the very first one - I've seen so many old movies since I was young (thanks to the great New York TV stations that broadcast these). On the safe side I should say *The Wizard of Oz*, but I also watched a whole lot of silent comedies and monster movies since my brother was really into those. *King Kong* I saw at a very young age.
When I first started going to movie theaters, it was the Disney movies: *101 Dalmations*, *Bambi*, etc.

Red Rider, "Lunatic Fringe":

Barbara Stanwyck in makeup chair, a promo photo for one of tonight's featured films on TCM: *Forbidden*.

I don't think it will help or hurt box office profits. With the frequency of these crazy mass shootings these days, another one will come along next week and we will have forgotten all about this one.

Nah, you're not quibbling. Wow, how time flies! That's all I have to say. The 1980s still feel like "yesterday" to me...
Here's a quieter song I like: "Atlantic City".

I don't think you can see much in the movie - I think the fall happened during the rehearsal.
I do remember a part where Stanwyck and Owsley are having some emotional moment and she walks toward a door, but maybe the door was closed (maybe they filmed it much differently than as happened during the rehearsal!).
I just realized also, she was also injured while filming *Forbidden* - the horse she rides on the beach had fallen on top of her. Apparently she had gotten up, finished filming the scene, then collapsed.
BTW, I got my information from the Ella Smith book, "Starring Miss Barbara Stanwyck".

*I just remembered it wrong. Sorry.*
Absolutely no need to apologize!

I thought *Ten Cents a Dance* was weak in terms of the Monroe Owsley character. Owsley wasn't a great actor, and his character is a drip. You may see what I mean tomorrow.

Some trivia on this movie - Stanwyck was playing a scene with Owsley and as she was backing up, she fell down a flight of stairs... Years later she said her back still hurt from it, and made a wry remark that she was "overacting".

Bumping this thread up to let y'all know that Michael has quickly and graciously moved the thread here. Thanks, Michael!

I think I remember - there was a thread where you and I and ValentineXavier were talking about working for universities. VX said he worked in the library department. I work at a university, but I'm a secretary (speaking of which, I'd better get back at it, lol!)

*Note: Eugenia, you might want to ask our moderator to move this to the favorites section?*
Sure, I could. I'll send him a pm.

I remember his Ritz cracker commercials!

I love Bruce Springsteen, old stuff and newer stuff. Here's something from the later period.

Somehow it's hard to picture Barbara Stanwyck in a pre-code playing a librarian.
Well, in this film she is only for the first 10-15 minutes or so. Forbidden is my favorite of the four. As said in another thread, I just love the Stanwyck/Capra collaborations. As usual, she goes through strong extremes of emotion. Some memorable scenes here, too, not only for the acting but for the direction (don't want to give anything away, yet). Stanwyck and Menjou seem like a mismatch on the face of it, but they work together well. Ralph Bellamy does his usual turn as an "also ran". :0
PS - Hibi, with your "librarian" comment, by chance did you think I was a librarian? I'm not, though libraries are a favorite haunt for me.

:^0 Yeah, maybe just a little!
These dinosaur bands must do it for the adrenaline of playing to a live audience. It can't be a money issue. I'll bet though, instead of popping acid between sets, they do Geritol.

Thanks - I knew it wasn't a stand-alone song, and thought it was part of "See Me, Feel Me" (I forgot that these are also connected to "We're Not Gonna Take It") - I was looking for a clip of that part of the song.
All parts are good.

I love The Who. So many great songs...
I haven't found a good YouTube clip for "Listening to You", so here is "I Can See for Miles" instead:
