I was thinking of one I don't think anyone mentioned, that is the constant rain during the movie Seven...it mirrors the beginning of Dante's Inferno where it is raining constantly on the protagonists.

I love the foreign films on TCM. Just like silent films, you have to watch the action. If you get lost, it's not a good movie, most likely. Movies need the "made you look" quality. They are, after all, "motion pictures". Even English language films that you never have to look at to follow the action are usually not good films. I fell in love with Cocteau's silent movies a long time ago for exactly that reason. I watch quite a lot of foreign films on netflix, too, so maybe I'm just fascinated by a different point of view. But then, I like grand opera, too.

Since you asked *lol*, my favorite all-time BD movie is "Now Voyager" I know, I know, lotsa hankies, but I just love it.
