Yes, to the ornithologist James Bond being our hero's namesake. I am aware of reference to this in the novel Dr. No, but same does not appear in the film.  However, there is a film in which Bond not only has a copy of (the real) Bond's Birds of the West Indies (1936), but there is also dialogue  about ornithology. Do you recall the film with that exchange?
