I used to watch this every Easter with my family while growing up. It's a Sunday school story come to life! I think that it is an all-time great epic film. It had a cast of thousands. It's always colorful and entertaining to watch. It's has it's thrilling moments ( even now the parting of the Red Sea is exciting to watch). It's has high drama. There's some comedy thanks to Anne Baxter and Edward G. Robinson's sometimes campy performances. And with Yul, Charlton Heston, and John Derek ( all at the height of thier male hunkness) appearing bare-chested during much of the film. And the beautiful Debra Paget, it was even quite sexy. For a 50's Hollywood epic, what's not to love?

I have been a fan of Doris Day since I was in grade school watching her TV show. When I grew up, I discovered her movies. It would be nice if she would agree to accept an honorary oscar.

"War and Peace" (1956)

It's by no means a great film. I think Henry Fonda was somewhat miscast. But without a doubt, Audrey Hepburn is the saving grace of "War and Peace" (1956). And Audrey and Anita were at the height of their beauty. Audrey, in particular, never looked more beautiful.
