  1. The tix cost $12.50. Go to Fathom.com for the location near you. Sony is to done all the work on the original film stock so hoping for the best.
  2. Well the long awaited day is here. I am taking my 25 yr old daughter to see this epic experience here on long Island. She has neither seen it before or know the story. I hope she enjoys it as much as I did so many years ago. So - anyone else going to see LOA today? Cheers.
  3. I've always admired the score to "The Big Country". Filmed in 1958 with an original score by Jerome Moross it captures the grand landscape and open vistas of the west. A rousing big musical score to be sure.
  4. Yes indeed. From inspired direction by Ridley Scott and Kubrick to involved lead characters and wonderful musical scores (who doesn't love LUDWIG VON) these two films are a cut above and stand the test of time. Certainly these are films that are thought provoking and stay with you long after viewing. Please TCM heed our request.
  5. That was Ellen Barrett as sister Louisa. Boy both of those sisters were really eccentric or you could say crazy. Poor Ida having to look after them.
  6. Ida really shows a range of emotions during the film from fear and loathing to hate and concern for her sisters. By the way it was another nice turn for Elsa Lanchester. One particular close up reminded me of the looh captured in "Bride of Frankenstein". She has been in quite a few films during the last month and I love her range in all roles played. Certainly her and husband Charles were quite the talented pair.
  7. The cast was indeed impressive but I really get tired of seeing Clifton Webb. Prickly roles seem to be his specialty and he's always playing this wealthy, intellectual snob that's not really likable or sociable. I'm surprised some one doesn't just sock em in the nose.
  8. You are right Finance - However I know she's not familiar with Rooney especially his roots as a teen actor and beyond.
  9. Was able to get my 25 yr old daughter to watch the film last night. Pointed out to her that Rod Serling wrote it and to focus on the dramatic acting of Gleason ( she's seen the Honeymooners) and an intro to Anthony Quinn. Well she was very quiet throughout but said out loud - " I can't believe he is going to get him drunk" causing Mountain to miss his job interview. All in all a sucess. She said the story ended sadly for Mountain who was a good soul and asked what other films Quinn was in. I'm just trying to get her to appreciate TCM and some of the classics. Any thoughts?
  10. AMC is owned by Cabelvision. Anyone in the NY and Long Island area knows how money hungry this group is. Last year it was DISH Network and this year subscribers in NYC who must pay more to get the MSG sports teams. Yes AMC was once enjoyable.
