I wonder why they decided on June 25th when June 21st is her birthday.

It's nice to see THE GHOST GOES WEST is back in the TCM rotation. Great Robert Donat film!
-
Priscilla Dean was good in Tod Browning's silent films. It's too bad her name doesn't come up more often when speaking about silent film.

My on screen TV Guide doesn't even have SOMBRERO listed . I'm glad to see it is being shown early Wednesday morning! -
Happy centennial birthday to Alexis Smith, born Margaret Alexis Smith on June 8th, 1921 in Penticton, BC, Canada!

I watched LISZTOMANIA. Without intending to offend anyone, I'll just just say I think it would fit in perfectly in the Underground time slot.

I would like to see Ms Foster co-host "The Essentials" with Ben Mankiewicz . I enjoyed her presentation along with Alicia Malone a few months ago during the growing up on film series.

I had only heard of Monroe because I had read a book about D.W. Griffith and he was mentioned more than a few times in it. It's sad that today he isn't remembered, because look at all the films he appeared in: The Squaw Man (1914) Brewster's Millions (1914) The Master Mind (1914) The Virginian (1914) Ready Money (1914) Rose of the Rancho (1914) The Goose Girl (1915) After Five (1915) A Gentleman of Leisure (1915) The Lamb (1915) Double Trouble (1915) Ramona (1916) The Silent Lie (1917) The Door Between (1917) The Cook of Canyon Camp (1917) The Desire of the Moth (1917) The Savage (1917) Hugon, The Mighty (1918) Winner Takes All (1918) That Devil, Bateese (1918) Hands Down (1918) Hungry Eyes (1918) The Eagle (1918) The Guilt of Silence (1918) The Man in the Moonlight (1919) The Millionaire Pirate (1919) The Sleeping Lion (1919) The Sundown Trail (1919) The Phantom Melody (1920) The Barbarian (1920) The Jade Box (1930) I'm sure this was the fate of many silent screen actors, though.

Great news, but... will they be checking everyone's vaccination cards? ๐ค

I think this is the perfect date for the Oscars. It's a little distanced from SAG and Golden Globes, and gives folks a chance to see the nominated films in theaters before the ceremony. Many of the films don't show in my region at all until that time frame between SAG and The Oscars.

Wouldn't it be something if a copy of one of those "books" were to show up somewhere?

Whenever I see an actress whose looks were minimized for a screen role, it is then that I think of them as their most beautiful. Olivia didn't strike me as plain in the least in THE HEIRESS; just extremely shy (and of course verbally abused by her father.) Also, when she starts to recover from her mental breakdown in THE SNAKE PIT, she is sans make-up and looks very beautiful to me. Dorothy Malone in THE MAN OF A THOUSAND FACES looks very pretty when she returns after a suicide attempt to try and regain a relationship with her son. She hardly has any make-up on at all. I think the person who surprised me the most was Lady Gaga in A STAR IS BORN. With her natural hair color, very little make-up (and normal clothing ๐), I thought for the first time she is a pretty lady. ...Something about Wendy Hiller: I just love her perfectly arched eyebrows and she couldn't hide them no matter how plain the role called for her to be!

Plan 9 From Outer Space Table Read
sagebrush replied to David Guercio's topic in General Discussions
I don't believe it was ever added to begin with, David. I found it fun. It was kind of like listening to the old radio programs of the 1930's-1940's, except with a visual.
