  1. Glad to read this; I was envisioning designer masks with rented jewels in them πŸ˜„. What about the Red Carpet, though?
  2. A few hat styles from lovely Ida Lupino: Three great hats...and actors I love this one! πŸ˜„
  3. Happy belated centennial birthday to Peter Ustinov, born Peter Alexander Freiherr von Ustinov in London, England on April 16th, 1921!
  4. I'm so thrilled they included this gem in the 31 Days schedule, even though it didn't win anything and was only nominated in one category. A film with all character actors- how can it go wrong?! My favorite scene is when Katie Johnson first interrupts the "Quartet" when they are practicing. When she opens the door and they all pick up their instruments, Herbert Lom is holding his Viola upside down. πŸ˜„
  5. I love this hat Celia Johnson wore in BRIEF ENCOUNTER ...and this one is cute, too
  6. It's a very, very dated revue-type film. I hadn't heard of it before, either. Really nice color, though. I was impressed by the print and sound clarity.
  7. When theaters in Hollywood can't reopen, it doesn't look good for other movie houses. 😞
  8. is hiding from this category! The winner is MY OCTOPUS TEACHER.
  9. Those are some really beautiful magazine covers, particularly the drawn ones. At first, I thought this one was Frances Dee. She could be Nilsson's twin!
  10. Have we honored Sophia Loren yet? She has worn some stylish hats:
  11. I would say Susan Peters (1921-1952) had a tragic life. A promising young actress who garnered an Academy Award nomination for her role in RANDOM HARVEST and further acclaim for SONG OF RUSSIA, she was on a hunting trip with her husband on New Year's Day in 1945 when she reached for a rifle and it dislodged into her abdomen, leaving her permanently paralyzed from the waist down. After a long recovery, she made a return to films with THE SIGN OF THE RAM. She did some stage, radio and TV work, but began suffering from depression. Her physical health started suffering as well, and in August of 1952 she began starving herself. She died on October 23rd of kidney failure, pneumonia, malnutrition and dehydration.
  12. TCM Big Screen Classics did show THE TEN COMMANDMENTS in theaters on Easter Sunday. The 1959 BEN HUR aired I believe on Friday as part of the 31 Days Of Oscar. I missed watching some of the Easter films, as well. The 1925 BEN HUR or the 1928 KING OF KINGS usually occupies the Silent Sunday Nights time slot on Easter, and I've enjoyed watching JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR and GODSPELL in years past. When I was a kid, we were always able to find a TV station showing JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR. It kind of became a tradition in our home! On Easter night, THE SOUND OF MUSIC would always be on TV. It's always a pleasure to see EASTER PARADE, though. Fun film!
  13. I think if Greer Garson was walking in the Easter Parade this Sunday morning, this is the look she would go for:
  14. Jennifer Jones looked sophisticated in these hats in MADAME BOVARY:
  15. Too bad The Giants and The Cardinals don't meet until July!
  16. I love this hat on Margaret Lockwood in THE WICKED LADY: and her co-star, James Mason, wore this wonderful hat:
  17. Some of the stunning head dressings Vivien Leigh wore in THAT HAMILTON WOMAN: http://www.frockflicks.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Viven-Leigh-That-Hamilton-Woman-Romney1.jpg This veil is my favorite. In the film, it catches all the lighting from the camera and shoots out little sparkles from the sequins.
  18. I always thought the film version of PAINT YOUR WAGON was much better than it's reputation suggested. I don't even think Clint Eastwood and Lee Marvin did that bad with their singing. At the very least, no one could argue that Harve Presnell's rendition of "They Call The Wind Maria" was something special.
