I know the video you are referring to, BenHere. It was shown just the other day. I was looking for it on TCM's YouTube channel, but they haven't uploaded it.

I actually found this entertaining. π

I've only seen Ruth Chatterton in two films: MADAME X (directed by Lionel Barrymore) in which she was very good, and DODSWORTH, in which she was fantastic as a restless wife trying to recapture the wistfulness of youth. *I know how much you love DODSWORTH, too, TopBilled! π I wish she had made more films. She had a long stage career, though.
-
I thought he was good in INTRUDER IN THE DUST, too. He had a good post-film career, as well. Among other behind the scenes positions, he ran the San Francisco International Film Festival and was a producer. He wrote a book in 2018.

Death Takes No Holiday -- The Obituary Thread

A legend of legends this man was. The popularity of Baseball in the second half of the 20th century owes him a great debt. ~RIP, Mr. Aaron -
I think I only recall seeing three films in which Rory Calhoun appeared. There are two musicals with Betty Grable, HOW TO MARRY A MILLIONAIRE and MEET ME AFTER THE SHOW, and a film with Susan Hayward, WITH A SONG IN MY HEART.
-
The first time I saw Agnes Moorehead on film (she had always been Endora on BEWITCHED to me thus far) was in CITIZEN KANE. I remember thinking to myself that she had the most wonderful eyebrows I had ever seen. π I thought she was also very memorable in THE BIG STREET as Lucille Ball's friend and as Aunt Aggie in JOHNNY BELINDA. My favorite performance of hers is in MRS. PARKINGTON as Walter Pidgeon's friend Aspasia.
-
That's the perfect word to describe his characters! I mentioned earlier that THE MASK OF DEMETRIOS had one of my favorite Sydney Greenstreet performances. The same goes for Zachary Scott in the film.

When I was a young person, my sister and I worked at a Der Wienerschnitzel restaurant. We had the largest dining room in the company with huge windows and pretty hedges outside, so they decided to film a TV commercial at our location. They actually used my sister, I, and a few others as far background extras working behind the counter, even though they didn't have customers in the commercial. Everything they were filming was already laid out on the dining room tables when we arrived. They filmed it all very quickly (three takes, I think) and then dispersed. While we were waiting for the cleanup crew to come in, we curiously wandered into the dining room to check out the "food". From behind me, I heard my sister say loudly "Yuck!" I turned around, and she was holding a hamburger in her hand and disgustedly said "It's made of plastic!" π

This seemed to be an affliction with many directors in the silent and golden age of films, especially when a character was dying or in extreme pain (with hair and makeup in tact π.)

It's taken until January 19th for me to realize it, but January has no TV promo, just like November (or maybe I am just continually missing it?) We had one for October and December, but not November and January. I wonder if it's only going to be every other month now that we get an on screen promo.

I like Alice Faye's deep singing voice. A couple of my favorite films of hers are ALEXANDER'S RAGTIME BAND with Don Ameche and Tyrone Power and TIN PAN ALLEY with Betty Grable. In the mid 1990s, she made an appearance at the Stanford University Theater to introduce a double feature of her films during a month-long salute to her career. She was funny, engaging, sharp and still beautiful.
-
I liked Ricardo Cortez' interpretation of Sam Spade in the 1931 version of THE MALTESE FALCON. I also thought he was good in THE SORROWS OF SATAN with Adolphe Menjou and TORRENT, which was Greta Garbo's first American film.
-
Virginia Weidler's delivery of one liners in THE PHILADELPHIA STORY are only matched by Ruth Hussey's. Her scene in THE WOMEN in which Norma Shearer is explaining to her why she is obtaining a divorce is a good example of the range she had. I think my favorite role of hers is in THE GREAT MAN VOTES with John Barrymore.
-
Jack Nicholson is always good, but I think my favorite performance of his is from AS GOOD AS IT GETS. He was creepy, neurotic, abrasive, and yet endearing. My favorite line from the film is when Carol (Helen Hunt) says to him "When you first entered the restaurant, I thought you were handsome... and then, of course, you spoke." π

I almost exclusively know Barbara Hale from the Perry Mason TV series. I thought she was great in THE WINDOW as Bobby Driscoll's mom. Natural beauty, too.

It was less than one year ago that we bid farewell to Roy Horn, too. My husband was a professional magician who tried his hand at live performances for a while, but you really have to have that certain "umph". Siegfried and Roy had it in spades. My husband met them a few times after attending their Vegas shows. He said they were both wonderful people who adored their animals and treated them like pets. ~RIP, Mr. Fischbacher. -
My favorite performance from Sydney Greenstreet is in THE MASK OF DIMITRIOS. I also enjoy his comedic role in CHRISTMAS IN CONNECTICUT.
-
I love beautiful Gale Sondergaard. She is good in everything. She was very as good as Lady Thiang in ANNA AND THE KING OF SIAM (stereotype aside) and wonderful as Tylette the cat in THE BLUE BIRD. I also liked her in a couple of Bob Hope films: THE CAT AND THE CANARY and MY FAVORITE BLONDE. Also, she was good in THE MARK OF ZORRO, JUAREZ and THE BLACK CAT to name a few. Sadly, her husband, director Herbert Bieberman, was one of "The Hollywood Ten", which completely stalled her film career after 1950.
-
Another couple of good MacRae musicals are THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE with Dan Dailey and THE DESERT SONG with Kathryn Grayson.
-
I liked Gloria Stuart in POOR LITTLE RICH GIRL and REBECCA OF SUNNYBROOK FARM, both with Shirley Temple. She seemed to be cast often in support of child stars, but she was charming in them. Of course, she was also good as the older version of Rose in TITANIC.
-
Anyone who can have their name mentioned in the same sentence as Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee can say they had a good career. ~RIP, Ms Shelley.
-
I liked Dean Stockwell in ANCHORS AWEIGH with Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra and THE SECRET GARDEN with Margaret O'Brien. He had a good blend of cute, spoiled and precocious in his acting.
-
I really love this dress! π
