I HAVE seen instances of actors playing characters with the same name, but in those cases, the actor came first. Always made me wonder if the actor had trouble remembering a different name, or what? > > Sepiatone > I didn't find out about May Wynn until I finally saw THE CAINE MUTINY and looked her up. She was married to Jack Kelly and didn't come off too well in James Garner's memoirs. We always used to joke that Tony Danza could only play characters named Tony because any other name confused him.
  2. TopBilled's classic daily double two days ago was "Anne Shirley as Anne Shirley." I admit that I was dense enough never to have realized she took her name from the Green Gables character. Obviously, I never was too interested in the story and hadn't seen the movie. I did know, however, that Gig Young did this same thing in the '40s and May Wynn in the '50s. Does anyone know if there are any others? I didn't ask this in the daily double thread because I didn't want to be seen as hijacking. Edited by: ginnyfan on May 9, 2012 11:28 AM
  3. I was about to add that at least they still run the TRUE HOLLYWOOD STORY, but then I looked at E!'s schedule of THS episodes. May 11 SNOOKI May 12GIULIANA RANCIC (?) May13 Joan and Melissa Rivers May 16 Hulk Hogan and family I concede!
  4. After we get TCM 2 up and running, maybe we can plan the programing for TURNER CLASSIC CABLE! We could bring back all those shows from back when each channel stayed within its own concept. This would definitely make the schedule. Of course, we'd need a cable historian to introduce each feature.
  5. Reagan was in "THE ANGELS WASH THEIR FACES" with Bonita Granville
  6. Houston, James-Richard Carlson in BEYOND CHRISTMAS (1940)
  7. Penny Singleton was in SWING YOUR LADY (1938) with Nat Pendleton
  8. THE WISER SEX AND BUTTERED POPCORN next-lovely
  9. I considered posting to the thread from a week or two ago, but I thought that the fact that TCM apparently had the exact same scheduling problem when it showed the film previously was of some interest. You are right that I should just set the recordings long, but being with DISH for years made me overconfident. Since DISH never put the features between films in the guide, the recording times were always long enough to cover the actual film length.
  10. Evans was in PARK ROW with George O'Hanlon
  11. Terrence, you are way too generous. Thank you. Donald Pleasence Michael Landon James Best James Broderick
  12. Gross Late Update : They are brother and sister. Gipper, do you have someone else in mind? Edited by: ginnyfan on May 7, 2012 10:46 PM after I realized the error in my answer
  13. Gee, BOTH of my parents were nurses. Mom an RN, Dad an LPN. I'm glad someone came up with some movies where the nurses weren't evil. Happy Nurses Day.
  14. Foster was in NEWS IS MADE AT NIGHT (1939) with Lynn Bari

  16. Bonzo-Bonzo in BEDTIME FOR BONZO (1951)
  17. I was grooving (sorry, Mark) to NEVER LET ME GO off my DVR yesterday when it ran out three or four minutes prior to the end. I had set it for 90 mins., the Comcast guide said the actual run time was only 69. I should have know that Gable wasn't making 69 minute features in 1953. I just went to IMDB for some spoilers and, sure enough, someone asked the same question about the ending eight years ago. Apparently the Soviets still don't want us to see the end of this film!
