It's a very effective low budget film.

 

The narrator, Clete Roberts, was a war correspondent and pioneering newscaster who also made a separate career out of playing newsmen in movies and on television.

BATTLE CRY is on right now and it appears to be a perfect example of Hollywood keeping fashions current rather than accurate to the time in the movie.

 

The women are all dressed and styled 1950s-ish.

L.Q. Jones played "Smitty" the first season of "Cheyenne." After a few episodes, Smitty disapeared and Clint Walker rode alone from then on. The show would have been very different if he had stayed on as sidekick.

 

To get a later look at him, one can watch CASINO, which seems to be somewhere on cable almost every night.
