  1. Yep, and have you also ever noticed that whenever Bob is not totally comfortable with a guest co-host, he has another "tell" other than this "squirm" you mentioned? It's that constant "Right" interruption of his guest while they're speaking, and of which clore earlier mentioned in this thread, and which he seemed to do even more often with Molly last night than he usually does. (...btw this reminds me...I think I would probably become totally slack-jawed if I would ever hear Bob JUST ONCE say somethin' to his guests such as, "No, sorry, I disagree with your opinion here, and here's why....") LOL Edited by: Dargo2 on Jun 12, 2013 4:17 PM
  2. Take a look over in the "Hot Topics" forum and at the "Lookalikes" thread, lavender.
  3. (per a request by lavenderblue) Betty Field ...and... Ann Sheridan
  4. If you're sayin' you think Molly has a slightly "affected" manner of speaking here Twink, then I absolutely agree with you!
  5. ...with just a few years later it possibly being... "I stopped you Mr. Osborne because I clocked you going 57 in a 45MPH zone!" (...hey, this reminds me finance...that cop that gave you that jaywalking ticket while you lived out in L.A. wouldn't have happened to have BEEN our "Officer Ken" here, would HE???) 6. >ps- her "Raaaaalph!!!" would be prounounced "Raaaah-aye-lph!!!!!!!!!!" We North Carolinians are big on loading a word with as many syllables as possible. Trust me Addison, I know what "y'alls" talkin' 'bout here. There once was a co-worker of mine, a lady for Texas, and she would call another co-worker of mine, "Jay-eff"...and of course his name was "Jeff". The main difference as far as I can tell between the North Carolinian accent and a Texas accent being the much "harder R" sound being pronounced in TX, while the NC accent when it comes to the letter 'r' is much softer...just a Molly sounds it. (...btw, I think Molly has a slight "Una Merkel" sound to her voice also)
  7. "Good" is a relative term ya know, Twink. (...which coincidentally a relative of mine, my dear Aunt Gertrude, once told me!)
  8. >Agreed. I know some people here are hard on Haskell, oddly enough faw huh accent, which to me is her most redeeming quality. So Addison, you LIKE that "Alice Kramden with a southern accent" voice o' her's, do YA?! (...just ONCE I'd love to hear her attempt so say, "Oh Raaalph!") But yeah, overall, I agree with most of what you said here.
  9. >Mimi, I think if you look up the word CAD in the dictionary you will see Rex Harrison's picture. Funny...THIS is all I found when I did that, Joe!
  10. >Many long years ago I saw Raymond Massey and his wife on Edward R. Murrow's "Person To Person," and I've never been so surprised at the difference between the man at home and the actor on the screen. He was gregarious, he laughed, he was full of fun, he was the guy you'd want to sit next to at the dinner party. None of the "Fountainhead" grandiose sourpuss Yep Dothery, I always had a sense that Raymond Massey was an extremely nice and engaging gentlemen, and like you mentioned, contrary to the roles he was often given to play. In this regard I suppose we could consider Mr.Massey as sort of the "Canadian Robert Ryan", as Mr. Ryan was also reportedly nothing at all like all those heavies he specialized in playing.
  11. Thanks for this most interesting and enlightening correction to the misconception I harbored regarding the heat of re-entry, Sans! You really DO know your stuff, alright! I guess this just goes to show ya that back in the day the Odessa Unified School District(once again, in the Ukraine, NOT the Lone Star State) was INDEED a whole lot better in educating THEIR charges than was the Los Angeles Unified School District from which I received what I suppose could very loosely be called an "education"!
  12. Thanks for taking the time to respond to this thread, Mr. Muller. I think almost all of us think you're doin' a great job as host of this series AND with your picks here. Now, if you've read all of this thread then you might have noticed one of our members by the name of "Geraldddddd" thought this series of yours would make for an excellent permanent spot on TCM's Friday Night lineup, and of which I seconded. So, do you think there might be any chance of that happening in the future, and would you liked to be asked to host it on a permanent basis if this could or would happen?
  13. Wow! Very cool find with some great old photos in that "Chain Lightning" link there, Fred!!! (...great addition to the thread here, ol' buddy!...thanks!)
  14. Yep, I knew all that, Sans. Ya see I just didn't feel like gettin' into a battle wits with infinite1, THAT'S all. And so I decided to just do that little play-on-words there in response to him. (...truth be known, I kinda felt sorry for the guy 'cause I saw he was battlin' fxreyman pretty hard all day. and so I just figured I'd spare him a battle of wits over here TOO...I mean, fightin' a two-front war IS always kinda tough ya know...WHICH as I'm sure you know was the major mistake that crazy guy with that funny little mustache made when he attacked your people over there with that ill-conceived "Operation Barbarossa" o' his!!!!) LOL
  15. Yep Fred. I'm glad you agree with my earlier thought that Bogie's aircraft was patterned after some of first rocket-powered winged a/c such as that early German-built Me 163 instead of a jet-powered one. (...though I still think Bogie's bird looked a little more like the later American-built Bell X-2, overall)
  16. Yep Sans, I do get a kick out of what comes out of Jeremy Clarkson's mouth and the antics of his two co-hosts, myself. (...especially when he kids us Yanks by means of his oh so British dry wit)
  17. You're really lettin' me down here, heuriger my dear. Uh huh...'cause what ya SHOULD'VE posted here instead of that picture of an ear(and keepin with your signature running theme around here, mind you) was THIS!!!... (...and you call yourself a "DJ"!!!...for shame young lady, for shame!) LOL
  18. Yes Fred, and thank you very much for settin' up my "wine/whine" pun. (...your royalty Czech..err..check..err..CHEQUE will be mailed to you in short order)
  19. Sorry heuriger! I've sworn off thinkin' about otters until I can figure out to the precise ounce how much wood a woodchuck COULD chuck if he was REALLY able to! (...but don't worry, I THINK I'm gettin' very close to the answer now, and then I'll let ya know when I can devote more time to that otter stuff)
  20. Yeah, but what the heck does THAT have to do with US TWO???? LOL
  21. >BEST post on the whole thread, San Fin. Can always depend on YOU to bring good sense to a thread that has a lot of utter nonsense posted on it. Hey finance! Seein' as how you're on a roll here, how's about comin' up with somethin' that plays off lavender's post here??? (...I'm thinkin' you could somehow play off that "utter" word there just like Groucho did, but then again that really wouldn't be all that original now, would it!)
  22. >No, but I will. Insides? If you are with a person with an attractive colon and gall bladder, the movie doesn't matter. BRAVO, finance! Couldn't have done better myself. (...in FACT, 'cause I usually don't go with rhymes, I most likely couldn't have come CLOSE to toppin' ya here!)
  23. LOL Ya know heuriger, I was JUST about to go in that direction with my response to the Sans also, BUT I figured instead I'd go with a little on-going inside joke I have going with the extremely intelligent and articulate lady from Odessa. (...Ukraine..NOT Texas, btw...nobody THAT smart comes from Texas, ya know!)
  24. So Sans, in that set-up for my little joke there, was I incorrect about the causation for the heat build-up upon a spacecraft's re-entry to Earth? (...and if I WAS, then just remember it WAS all thanks to that German dude we got a hold of before YOU folks did is the ONLY reason we beat YOU GUYS to the MOON!!!)
  25. Ya know Sans, this is yet ANOTHER reason why I really like you! (...not ONLY are your English skills second to none around here, BUT you ALSO now appear to be one of the very few Gearheads like me around here TOO!!!) Edited by: Dargo2 on Jun 11, 2013 3:37 PM
