  1. Ya know, the more I ponder this, the more I think that this is a GREAT idea! Yep, I think ALL us extremely handsome men in the world like Bob Taylor and myself SHOULD have people celebrate our birthdays twice a year instead of just once. (...in fact I think I'll run this past my wife right now and see what she thinks...I'll let you folks know what her reaction is)
  2. OH yeah, THAT'S what it was! NOW I remember. It was after I took your Loonie to the bank and they only gave me a quarter for it, is how that whole thing went down. Thanks for refreshing my memory here! (...and now it's off to bed of me...good night, and talk to ya soon, Twink...this was fun!)
  3. WAIT! I think I remember you now, Twink! You wouldn't happen to have been that cheapskate who tried to slip that measly quarter down my thong instead of a dollar bill, now would ya??? (...and if you WERE, then I have a feelin' that "hourly rate for yard work" I mentioned earlier isn't gonna be to my liking EITHER!!!)
  4. So, you're sayin' you DID catch my act there when I performed under the name of "Robin", huh? (...yep, "Robin Red Vest", that was ME, alright!...seems like a thousand years ago now!)
  5. >Now if you were a 'Chippandale Dancer" in a red vest , "Welcome To... Now HOW in the world did you know of my gig in the '80s, HUH?! (...just a lucky guess, RIGHT?!) LOL
  6. >..well...since you mentioned it, Yes !....I could use some help with my yard work ! LOL Well, what kinda o' hourly rate do ya give? (...I mean the wife HAS been droppin' less than subtle hints lately that a little extra income might help the household finances since we've both retired...and I just can't see myself in a red vest and sayin' to everyone walkin' towards me, "Welcome to Walmart!")
  7. >.....very different nose Dargo I think it's just the lighting in that picture of Anna, Twink. Here's another one of Anna which I think shows her nose to be much like Virginia's...
  8. Okay slayton ol' buddy, now that we have THIS issue settled, go reply to my suggestion that The Petrified Forest might make for an excellent remake in that thread you started!!! (...'cause I think it's a good one, and nobody's replied to THAT post o' mine EITHER!!!) LOL
  9. Sooooo, I take it nobody else but me thinks Virginia Vale looks a lot like Anna Lee, huh?! Alrighty then, HERE! Virginia Vale.. Vale[/i]inMillionairesinPrison(1940).jpg] Anna Lee (...must I do EVERYTHING for you people around here???!!!)
  10. LOL Yep, good point, heuriger my dear! All extremely popular TV shows in "The Heartland", back in the day. (...'cept ya might wanna correct the preposition in that "Lost - Space" one there)
  11. >As for the best performance in it, I liked Robert Vaughn's small part a little more than any of the others for some reason. It's been years since I've seen this movie, Dark, so refresh my memory here if ya would. Does Vaughn play yet another one of those slimy underhanded types he was noted for playing in his "post-U.N.C.L.E." days? (...you know, like that slimy DA dude he played in Bullitt )
  12. I've always thought the timelessness of the social concept that criminals are bred by the forces of nurture than of nature, would make The Petrified Forest an evergreen theme to explore in film. However, it seems Bogie's turn as Duke Mantee has apparently been deemed the only version worth doing. Yep, it seems to me that the Mantee character is one which could provide a wealth of alternative and interesting readings for the right actor...and not just for the great Bogart. Add to this the idea that a counterpoint character such as the world-weary intellectual of Alan Squier is seldom placed in close quarters with such a character as Mantee in many other films, is yet another reason I think this movie could be updated nicely. And, seeing as how the original film is somewhat stagebound, I believe a good director could "open this up" for a whole new generation of moviegoers if done correctly.. 13. Jus' pullin' your leg here a bit, my dear...a fine ol' 'Merican tradition, that's all. (...oh, and jus' lookin' for any excuse to say the name "Boris Spassky", TOO!)
  14. Why, THANK you, TB! Yep, that's ME, alright...a man of great "perspective". (...WHICH of course all stems from that imaginary "vanishing point" out there on that "horizon"!)
  15. Yeah, yeah, folks. Complain ALL ya want 'cause I have YET to see any of MY favorite genre of films shown on TCM EITHER! Industrial Safety Films! Yep! I just can't get enough of that driving rhythm of Raymond Scott's "Powerhouse" here!... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEuwAh3LFvM
  16. AAH! But word IS that THAT is NEXT on their acquisition list, dude! Uh huh. I think I read that in the latest issue of "Variety for Shysters Weekly". (...my lawyer Bernie Goldman always has that sittin' in his waiting room)
  17. Yeah, I suppose so, Fly. Yep, stereotyping people by their regional locations doesn't always run true-to-form, huh. (...I mean take YOU for instance...I have to admit that I have YET to see YOU say to ANYBODY around here somethin' like: "Know what'm talkin' 'bout here?!")
  18. Well Sans, just a guess here, BUT I'm thinkin' MAYBE the reason you're not familiar with most of those '70s and '80s American TV shows might be that at THAT time you were probably watchin' programs like "Chess with Boris Spassky" there in Odessa! (...and of course, I AIN'T talkin' "Odessa TEXAS" here, lady!) Edited by: Dargo2 on Jun 4, 2013 12:40 PM
  19. So, you folks are sayin' this flick is set BEFORE the "Disneyfication" of Times Square? Well then, THERE'S your answer here! Uh huh! Maybe Walt's battery of lawyers gobbled up the rights to this baby 'cause they don't want people to remember how that New York City location USED to be!!! Yep, some potential tourists not in-the-know COULD BE scared away from droppin' a bundle at that now family friendly Big Apple locale if they see this movie! (...though ya have to remember this IS just a theory here!)
  20. You're tellin' ME?!!! My WIFE was born in CAMDEN!!! (...good thing her family moved to Sandy Eggo..err..San Diego when she was 5, 'cause all that SoCal sun mellowed her up some over the years!)
  21. Hey Joe! Are you SURE that that's not K.D. Lang there???
  22. WHAT?! So when exactly did "JOISEY" become part of "The Heartland", dude???
  23. AAH! Then YOU must be up there in the UPPER Midwest, HUH?! Yep, Al Roker HAS been sayin' lately that Milwaukee has been a veritable paradise! (...well, weather-wise anyway!)
