"Violating forum rules"??? Well, as far as I know, unless you would've stated somethin' like, "Now Jay will have all the time in the world to talk politics and/or religion inside his garage. And speaking of politics and/or religion, here's what I THINK on those two subjects.......", then I can't see where you came close to steppin' on any toes around here, dude!!!

James, when you hit the "edit" function on your post, there's a little box with a check inside it that automatically comes up right below your text which you can then edit. If you click that little box and remove that check mark, then after you edit said text and hit the "submit" button, it will not show that your post has been edited at the bottom after it reappears in the thread. In fact, you might wish to experiment with this as you go back into some of your postings around here and where you've written the phrase "should OF" instead of the correctly worded "should HAVE". LOL (...sorry, I just couldn't resist sayin' that!)
-
Now why did you re-edit your original post and get rid of that "make love to his car collection" thing, FBT??? 'Cause I thought that was pretty clever! (...though you left out his collection of motorcycles, ya know!)
-
LOL Now THAT'S a good one, KD!!!

Here ya go, Mr.R. If you discount the common '50s hairstyle and makeup that these attractive ladies are sportin' here, I think you'll agree that there's really not that much of a resemblance between the two of 'em.
-
Hmmmm...sorry mm, but I'm not gettin' the title of this flick here? I mean, back in '58 there were PLENTY of places to go. Yep, one could go the drive-in movies, or say cruise into the local A&W Root Beer stand, or if one lived in L.A. at the time like I did, they could go see the newly relocated Dodgers play at the Coliseum, or maybe....... (...sorry, couldn't resist ....thanks for the heads-up here...I'll be lookin' forward to seein' this film)

>I also toss in that all four sisters in the 1949 version of Little Women resemble one another in no way, shape, sound, or form- nor do they look like their onscreen mother Mary Astor. True Addison, BUT you conveniently forgot to mention here that June Allyson SOUNDED just like the unseen father in this version. (...so, how do we know this IF the father is unseen?...well, what OTHER woman HAS that low-pitched sorta froggy-soundin' manly voice in movies, HUH?!...okay, maybe Lizabeth Scott, but who else, HUH?!) LOL
-
Easily explained in this case, finance. I guess you've always missed the part early on in that film where they show Willie Stark's milkman as this tall handsome stud of a guy, EH?! (...uh huh, if ya BLINK ya miss it!!!)
-
Oh, that face, that fabulous face. Whose is it?

Wow, you're absolutely correct there, mn! I would've never guessed that that was Ida there. Good call. -
Uh huh, and lemme guess here...you never leave home without it, huh. (...of course I suppose it would be rather hard to leave home without ANY nose, wouldn't it!)
-
Well, I don't know about "greats minds" in MY case, but yeah, it looks like we were sure on the same wave length here anyway, lavender!
-
>I'd hate to be described as "beautiful". Well then, have you considered toning down on the lipstick and mascara then???
-
So dp, it sounds as if you've never caught 1949's Knock on Any Door then, eh?! Derek plays one of cinema's first post-WWII juvenile delinquents opposite Bogie in this one, and I believe is where the phrase, "Live fast, die young, and leave a good-looking corpse," would first be uttered on film, and a few years before James Dean would make that his "signature".

Well, if you remember Hibi, Billy Crystal's classic comedy routine about Eddie G and his "M-yeah! Where's your Messiah now, see?!" line in this movie, does go on to include a whole Yul Brynner thing that has him miscast as Babe Ruth in some imagined baseball movie and sayin' the line, "These Cubs are driving me CRAZY!" LOL
-
>Another Fact about the production: The **** in the Wilderness scenes took 3 weeks to shoot.. Hmmmm...I KNOW there's a joke to be had here somewhere. WAIT! It took so long 'cause they kept runnin' OUT of "Ramses" on the set??? (...yeah, yeah...they can't ALL be gems here, ya know!!!)

Why was The Robe shown in horrible condition?
Dargo2 replied to speedbird2's topic in General Discussions
Dothery, your Lew Ayes story sounds a lot like a real life version of an episode of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show"...the one where Ayes guest stars as one of Mary's boyfriends, and the whole "age difference" thing comes into play. (...man, has this thread ever gone off the tracks now, HUH?!) -

Ummm...that would be a different "Richard" here, Hibi. (..."Widmark", of course!) -

...or without sportin' a lioncloth OR without a ray gun in his hand, maybe?! -
Hmmm...sorry Mr.R, but I'm not seein' the resemblance between those two TV Moms you just mentioned. (...but then again I suppose it's somewhat understandable that one might be swayed to think that, considering the thought that if you've seen ONE '50s TV mom vacuuming the carpets in high heels, then you've seen 'em ALL, huh?!)

Yep! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0024635/ And which I stumbled upon while searching out that pic of Nora's, 'cause I first recognized Buster, and then went to his filmography to discern the answer here. -
(...and once again with an assist credited to mongo and his wonderful "Candids 2" thread...) Rita Gam ..and.. Capucine
-
Nope, nothin' happened at all...well, except for all that time they spent lookin' for but NEVER findin' any oil(as Sepia just alluded to). And which was of course covered in that little remembered book of the Bible...wait for it..."Exxonadus". (...and which of course DeMille decided to gloss RIGHT OVER in his movie!!!)

Mary Carlisle and Buster Crabbe in "The Sweetheart of Sigma Chi". -

>I have no idea--who's on first. LOL (...how apropos for MLB Opening Day, HUH?!) -
I see TCM will be showing The Robe again
Dargo2 replied to FlyBackTransformer's topic in General Discussions
Sepia ol' buddy, after watchin' The Robe last night, for as I've stated in this thread after many many years, I'm gonna have to disagree with this earlier stated opinion of yours in this thread... >The main problem with the old movie is RICHARD BURTON. The expression "phone it in" doesn't even work here. Burton seemed as if he sent HIS performance in by carrier pidgeon! Yep, sorry, but I thought Burton mostly hit the proper notes in his performance as the conflicted Marcellus. Well, at least I felt he played the "Sydney Carton-esque" character who at first has no real convictions in his life, but ends up making the ultimate sacrifice for his friends, in rather convincing fashion anyway. Saaaay, maybe you didn't care for his portrayal 'cause all those "proper notes" I mentioned he performed in his signature Richard Burton "staccato delivery", eh?! (...just a guess here, 'cause you never really did expanded upon why you felt this way about his performance in this film)
