>Last weekend's SNL delivered better 18-49 ratings than any of their prime programs.
And thus the reason for today's big announcement that NBC just inked a deal with Timberlake to appear on EVERY prime time show they'll broadcast for the next two seasons!
(...what?!...haven't ya HEARD???)

-
Loved the Conan quote Rich, but I gotta say I think Swithin's English friend gets the cigar here!!! LOL
-
Nah, I don't think her nose is turned up enough for that to be Myrna, twinkeee.
-
Kinda sorta looks like a picture of a very young Kay Fwancis...err...FRANCIS, if ya ask me!
-
Well YEAH dp, "GD" if he ISN'T a very fine actor, alright!

It's just that while I FULLY realize many women throughout the world think a guy DOESN'T have to be "good looking" per se to be a so-called "Sex Symbol", ya HAVE to admit that even BEFORE the dude gained, what, 200 to 300 lbs, he STILL wasn't CLOSE to bein' "a good lookin' guy", ESPECIALLY with that Karl Malden nose o' his!!!
(...which of course would have made him PERFECT to do "French Express Traveler's Cheques" commercials back in the day...well, that IS if there ever WAS such a thing as the "French Express Company", of course!)
-
Gotta ask...
Was Oprah nearby TOO???
-
Hmmmm...no movies, ya say huh?! Well, in THAT case, I'll bet they're showin' a certain chimney a lot lately, though!
(...uh huh..."LIVE from Vatican City we bring you these exciting visuals of SMOKE!...Now don't touch that dial, 'cause ANY SECOND now that stuff could turn WHITE, and you sure don't wanna miss THAT, now do YA?!")
-
LOL
Yeah, good one, finance!
That reminds me of an old SNL "Weekend Update" line that Dennis Miller used back when he manned that segment.
The story he was "reporting" was about Gerald Depardieu and the latest little bit of trouble the guy was accused of having at the time, and there was a picture of Depardieu that looked somethin' like THIS...

...projected behind Miller while he spoke.
And after Miller was done talking, he turned around and looked at Depardieu's pictures and said...
"Hmmmm...if THAT'S France's biggest sex symbol, then I THINK I'm startin' to understand that whole Jerry Lewis thing they have over there TOO!"
(...I LOVED it!!!)
-
>Darby O Gill And The Little People is going to be on BYU TV Saturday night at ten PM (EDT.)
"BYU TV"???
Now why would THAT be?
(...I thought most Irish were Catholic, NOT Mormon?!!!)

-
LOL
It seems Gorch here catches on quick to the rules around here, eh?!
'Cause of course, the "McCallum" answer would ONLY be correct in this "Post-1950's Fab Face" thread, and whereas of course "Claude Rains" would've been the correct answer in the OTHER thread!
(...keep up the good work here, Gorch...you're doin' GREAT!!!)

-
Hmmm...to be honest here, I'm kinda shocked that that list Fred linked us to didn't include little Tommy Cruise?!!!
Aah, but then again I hear that organization he belongs to has some major league dues, and so maybe that's where most of HIS money is now, huh!
(...so never mind then...I THINK I just figured this out on my own!)

-
>Is the Catskills not a summer getaway? In addition to Jewish comedians, you could see a lot of NBA players, including Wilt Chamberlain, at Kutsher's Country Club.
Yeah, I recently saw something about Wilt playing at Kutsher's C.C. and about the Catskills of the '50s and '60s and when it was THE place to summer for the New York and surrounding area Jewish population of the time, especially.
I think it was on "CBS Sunday Morning", which my wife and l never miss.
-
>There are a few Wayne films I like, so I coulda liked this one, if it wasn't so populated by such unsympathetic a-holes.
Yeah, well, YOU know how the Irish are after they get a few under their belts, RIGHT??? Maybe Ford was tryin' for some kinda early "Cinema Verite" thing or somethin' with that flick, HUH?!

(...saaaay, that was rather un-PC of me here, wasn't it!...SORRY EVERYBODY, and I hope all your St.Patty Day wishes come true...well, except for all that "green beer" stuff...YUCK!!!...btw, all of the above was offered up in jest...well, EXCEPT for that "green beer" stuff...uh huh, I STILL say "yuck" to THAT!!!)
-
Samantha Eggar
Oooh man, did she send me back in the day!
(...and back when I thought every chick with a British accent was killer and automatically deserving of two extra bonus points!)
-
Hey BigFace! Watch what you're sayin' here, dude!
If word gets to those people who make movies now days that you mentioned "Spiderman" and "On the Waterfront" in the same sentence, who know?!
Yep, the unthinkable...Terry Malloy gets bitten by a radioactive spider and ends up utters the words: "I could'a been a contender, but instead I keep spinnin' these freakin' webs outta my fingers!"
(...of course they'd still have to find a present day actor who mutters while he utters with that nasily Brando sound which COULD be kinda hard to find, so MAYBE we're still safe from a fate like this...no thanks to YOU!!!)
-
>Check your IMDB.
Eeh! I had the doctor check that the last time I was in his office, and he said everything was "A-OK" with "my" IMBD !
Okay, I just Wiki-ed Fritz(and he said to STOP that, 'cause it tickled too much) and Wiki said he did three TZs.
(...so I guess I have my answer, huh!)
-
>Sorry, but I've never been a fan of The Quiet Man, but I'm sure I'm in the minority.
Ummm...yeah VX. I think we've pretty well established that you're not a big John Wayne fan, my friend!

LOL
-
Btw, how many "Twilight Zones" was Fritz on, anyway? What, three or four maybe?
-
Well, I'm not one to usually quote Karl Marx(Groucho YES, but Karl not so much), but like the dude said about the subject of History: "The first time it's a tragedy and the second time it's a farce".
(...and evidently with all these so-called "Reality Shows" presently on the "History" channel, I suppose we're DEFINITELY into that "second time" around thing now days, EH?!)

-
Ahem...I THINK you forgot to mention The Catskills here, finance!
(...well, at least I've heard that back in the day you could see a lot of Jewish comedians there, anyway!)

-
Yeah, well, how about the now loosely titled "History" channel !
I mean WHAT the heck do "swamp people", and/or guys who go out on fishing ships, and/or who drive big ol' trucks on iced up lakes up north in the winter POSSBLY have to do with "history", HUH?!
(...well, I suppose AT LEAST all that stuff people take to be pawned off to those fat dudes in Vegas MIGHT have a LITTLE "history" behind 'em, EH?!...yep, I'll at least give that show THAT, anyway!...ah, but then again, I suppose you can ONLY show SO many programs about HITLER until even THAT gets sorta old, HUH?!!!)
LOL

Fritz Weaver !
(...NOT to be confused with "Doodles")

-
Well, like I said Joe, "You MIGHT disagree with me"!

(...but I always saw it, anyway)
-
Ooh! I THINK I'm FINALLY about to get one in THIS thread here!
Sylvia Sidney ???

Cher Inaugural Host of New Film Series on TCM
in General Discussions
Posted
Oh, and btw, personally I think Cher will do JUST fine in her new role at TCM!
Oh, and yeah. They DIDN'T get Cher because of some "youth demographic" thing. Nope, TCM got her 'cause they want to shore up their ratings in S.F.'s Castro district, L.A.'s West Hollywood district AND in the Chelsea district of New York City!!!
(...among others)
