Ahem, well Prince, I'm pretty sure I've heard a few Johnny Cash songs played on some of the Classic Rock radio stations I've listened to.
(...balls back in your court, Your Royal Highness)

(...of course then again, you may not be able to SEE that ball in your court if you have me on your "Ignore" function TOO!)

Linda Sue Johannson
(...I knew this one 'cause she lived right down the street from me in Walla Walla WA, and for some reason carried that sign around a lot)
-
Yep, and as I recall it was the Rand McNally Company that published Leo's book.
(...I think it was titled: "The CAPITALS of the World"!!!)
-
Dargo, the big time producer, then replies back to Fred, the studio boss:
"Great ideas ALL here, FC. And I think I know JUST how to take care of those two screenwriters so it'll look like we had nothing to do with it. There's that crazy old has-been silent movie actress they've just released from the Camarillo Mental Hospital and she's back in that dreary old house on Sunset Avenue...I mean Boulevard, and I'll introduce those screenwriters to her. Sound like a plan?"

Hmmm...were you talking of one of the characters or the screenwriter here, Fred???

-
Hmmm...then I wonder how much he took Patty for?

-
Wow! Is it just my imagination, or has peace arrived in El Pueblo de Nuestra Se?ora la Reina de los ?ngeles AND Madrid here again???
(...sorry gentlemen, but I just couldn't resist this one...chalk it up to one too many of my Single Malts tonight if ya want)

Oh, and btw Tom...
Yep, a few months back I too would have problems signing in around here(note: I'm SURE some people might have had vague feelings of relief about this at the time), but I think TCM's server was the culprit. Lately however, and even though this place certainly isn't the speediest website on The Net, it hasn't been all THAT slow in response time for me, but there ARE the occasional "hiccups" as a few of the others have made note of here.
-
>I'm curious, PrinceSaliano. How do you know what to use the 'ignore' feature on? Does using it lead to the assumption that you're not missing much?
I wouldn't bother "The Prince" with these minor little matters, if I were you, Dark.
Yep, sometimes it's JUST a matter of, "The Prince is not amused", THAT'S all.
(...just ask finance, HE'LL tell ya!!!)
ROFL

BUT...after reading this NEXT post of yours to slayton here...
>If it were only once a week like those series, then I guess I wouldn't mind it too much. I just wouldn't want TCM to get over-run with TV-movies or mini-series (or anything else from the 1980's or newer).
...MAYBE I've misjudged ya here a bit, and MAYBE you're not as big a "stick-in-the-mud" as I thought. 'Cause EITHER my earlier poo-pooing of the "Slippery Slope" thing must've gotten through to you here, OR you just like slayton better than ME!!!
LOL
(...well, it's almost a sure bet you'd like Marjorie Main and Percy Kilbride better than me, anyway!!!)

>Yes actually, I WOULD rather watch Ma and Pa Kettle movies than anything made in the 1980's.
Well, no offense here mn, but I suppose MOST "stick-in-the-muds" WOULD, wouldn't they!
LOL
-
>To me, having a good "sense of humor" means that you have a good appreciation for what is funny, though you're not funny yourself.
finance, if you would place the word "necessarily" between the words "not" and "funny" in your above sentence, then I'd fully agree with your thought.
-
>Kind of taking a chance, weren't you Dargo2? What if missw said yes and then turned out to be a mrw? Now that would have been a real less than colorful ending.
Well infinte1, in a case like THAT, and not that I WOULD, but I suppose I COULD have always used the line the fella on the left with the big wide mouth says here, RIGHT???!!!
LOL

Eeh, you bunch o'

C'mon now, and like you even admit about the "quality" of SOME of the made-for-TV movies here musicalnovelty, I ask you...would you rather sit through ANOTHER showing of a bunch of "Ma and Pa Kettle" movies OR give people the opportunity to watch QUALITY films such as "QB VII" or "Special Bulletin" just ONE day of the week, OR maybe just even one DAY of the MONTH???
(...now think REAL hard here, 'cause I know your inclinations are to think the "slippery slope" argument and that TCM will soon turn into some kind of "TV Land" thing, but I REALLY don't think it has or WOULD ever go THAT direction by just OCCASIONALLY showcasing the best of the best Made-for-TV movies and miniseries ever made!)
-
Yeah! Another great group, dpompper! I wonder what Byrne has been up to lately?
-
Naaah, now HERE'S ya some lyrics, duuuuuuuude!:
Hate New York City
It's cold and it's damp
And all the people dressed like monkeys
Let's leave Chicago to the Eskimos
That town's a little bit too rugged
For you and me, you bad girl

(...oh and yeah, I WAS wonderin' what the heck "platic" meant...I see you changed it)
-
Nope. Mike Myers wasn't in "Sunset Avenue".
(..nor "Sunset Blvd", for THAT matter!)
-
Now c'mon you three(who appear to believe this whole "Nader/Crawford/Castle Production" thing). You HAVE to know I'm makin' all this stuff up as I go, RIGHT?!

(...I figured the "Wham-O Slip-n-Slide" line would've been a dead giveaway!!!)
-
Wow, ya know, nothin's poppin' into me little head here, finance., though it appears dpompper has thought of one.
I first thought maybe Randy Newman's ode to my old stompin' grounds might have the name "Sunset Blvd" somewhere in the lyrics, but nope it doesn't. And then I thought of Sheryl Crow's "All I Wanna Do", but that one only mentions "Santa Monica Blvd"(WE LOVE IT...oh..sorry), and so, nope, nothin's comin' to me here.
-
Well yes, the Nader/Crawford film WAS a mystery(on how it ever got made in the first place...but I digress) AND once again, similarly to "Sunset BLVD" and at the very beginning when we see Holden floating face-down in that pool and we sense that some sort of foulplay has taken place beforehand, Castle's "Sunset Avenue" production opens with Nader face-down on a Wham-O Slip-n-Slide (now here you must remember Castle's usual meager budgets), and we begin to wonder how THAT all came about!
-
Yeah! Great song, great group, finance!
-
Hmmmm...not sure if you're referrin' to Gretzky or Jackie Gleason here, heuriger???!!!

-
>Now I'm completely lost.
Well, all ya gotta do is cross back over the Ben Franklin Bridge from Jersey and I'm SURE you'll be able to find your way back home again, RIGHT?!

No FC, I don't think that would work.
THOUGH btw, and in a way continuing on with our little "Hollywood skullduggery" skit we've put on here...
This brought to my mind the 1992 Robert Altman film, The Player. And so, knowing how you're not much of a fan of post-studio system films, I was wondering if you liked that film, and if maybe you'd care to give me a few of your thought about it.
(...'cause I really like it)
